I have a manuel 2001 v6 mustang. I bought 3.73 gears but still havent installed them yet. I asked my mechanic about it and he said its really not a good idea since its only a V6 and it will put a lot of stress on my car. He also said i will barely see improvement. Please let me know if this is a bad idea.

Go to a different mechanic. gears will help the performance of your car and won't hurt a thing. Most of the people saying gears will hurt your car don't know jack **** about mustangs or modular motors.

 

i just put the 3.73's and a posi in in a few weeks back, trust me you will see a difference. wtf is it gonna hurt? maybe your neck it ya have a shift kit as well. defiinitly go to another mechanic cause that guy dont know **** if his cause problems its becuase they werent installed right do your research and find someone with experience to put them in.

 

Haha, the shop I had install mine on the v6 said "Hell yeah, now it will feel like a v8!" Go to someone else, that shop must not have much experience with gears anyway. Even though you don't have a modular motor it will not put too much stress on it.

 

If Rangers are fine w/ 4:10s and a 6, I think you'll be fine.

 

rangers have 4.10 wow bad azz
