so i've decided i'm going with 17x9 rims on my stang, but the tire size is confusing me. I've read so many different things about 255/40s being too small, 275/40s being too big, but then i've seen people say that 245/45s fit perfectly.......anyone care to clear this up for me?

 

a 245 width tire on a 9 inch rim looks bad in most cases. It will fit, but its not the ideal size. I use a 275

 

275/40 is the perfect size for a 17x9 rim

 

ok, thanks guys. and just outta curiosity, how does a 255/40 tire look/performe on a 17x9 rim?

 

it just doesn't fill out the rim as well
