Default See, VW aren't that slow...

http://videos.streetfire.net/categor...3500fdcba7.htm

found this one streetfire, just thought I would post it up to show you peeps what is up with the VW's. That's an essentially stock 2005 1.8T GTI with 190hp stock against a Mustang GT.

My VR is rated at 205HP/ 200TQ

Ok lets see the mod list and you see that the mustang has 18s which slow it down and the catback to give it a bit more grunt. The VW has a chip, full exhaust. I say get a stock GT with a stock VW other than that its whoever spends more on mods which is obvious that the VW did.

That's very true but I'm just saying. On the VW forums those a petty mods just like an exhaust and such is here to mustangs.

I mean ****, I bought my car chipped and didn't even know it until I saw it had no rev limiter.

My point is that some people think I'm stupid for getting a VW over another mustang and I'm just trying to show they aren't little pansy cars if you know what you are buying. Oh well, maybe I shouldn't have made this thread or maybe I'm just gay.

I am the last person to say something negative about a tuner having just come out of that world into the stang but in the video I couldnt even tell if the stang downshifted or was it automatic?

Seems like the VW shifted and the stang just punched it considering the HP differences the stang should have walked away faster than it did. There are all kinds of cars out there with smaller engines that can destroy mine.....I dont hate on em I say go for it.

Its a car, its fast, I'm a fan.....just that simple to me doesnt matter who makes it as long as it doesnt sound like *** at WOT

Yea they are. . . .

It looked like the GT was playing with the GTI, it let the GTI jump a car and then just reeled him in like it was nothing . . .

those 190hp cars dyno at ~ 150whp. 150whp in a 3000lb car is not fast.

not to mention if you wan more then ~ 300whp you have to build the engine, which cost a billion dollars, and then even after you build it its not easy to go past 400whp.

combine that with FWD and i would have to say . . .

no thanks.

However i bet it would be a nice daily driver..

BTW i speak with some knowlage because my roomate has a 2002 GTI 337 euro edition with full suspension full turboback, a chip, and he is running the stock turbo @ 19-21psi. I helped him install alot of stuff on it. They are cool cars, but they are by no means fast, or even potentially fast.

3000lbs? Really? That seems a little high for that car. I drove my guys GTI and compared to 4 cylinder performance its one of the higher ones and fun to drive.

I know they aren't the fastest things in the world and I know they really aren't meant to be high horsepower cars. The 1.8T is a car someone would get if they are just looking for a little performance at a cheaper price.

The VR6 is where the money really needs to be flowing. I'm saying 1.8T's can't be fast but they don't have as much potential as a VR6. I'm sure your friend is happy with his car and all because they are indeed awesome daily drivers and that is one of the reasons I got the car I got. I realized that I couldn't afford to drive a 700hp mustang everyday and expect it to reliable so I settle on my second love in cars and that would VW. I would honestly be happy with just 300hp out of my car.

The whole point of this thread was to show that they aren't the slowest things about there. I could of went out and got a Honda Civic and put a b18 in it but I thought I would be somewhat original and do something not many people are doing in my area. I guess I was just asking for respect in this thread but who cares right? it's just the internet...

Point taken but it boils down to who spends the most money. You can make anything fast, you should see this kid around my block blast down the street with his gas scooter sounds like mosquito.

Dude theres no way a down pipe is considered a petty mod, I might not be a huge power adder, but on a turbo already car, it can add 30 hp, my boy's WRX bumped up sum 20 hp at the wheels with a new 3" down pipe...

ne who, not to flame, but I agree with Venom, those aren't exactly little mods...

The only point I want to make is that the VW spent more money than the GT. Yes, a downpipe makes a huge difference on a turbo, how do I know , my SVO had a 3" one.
