Ok so my tread was really low so i went to discount tire and bought 4 new yokohama tires that are 275's. They look really cool and all and handle well, maybe it's just me but my car feels slower though. I dunno it handles well, much better actually, buty it kinda feels slower why is this.
My previous tires were goodyear one's that measured 245. Now i have 275's, does this havreanything to do with it? The first thing i did was do a big burnout.

 

Felt slower or less power on your burnout. They are alittle heavier, but now you have more tread on the ground. It might be a tad harder for your car to burnout on the 275, since you were use to burning the 245s.
when i bought my car, it had 245's on the rear, when i put 295s on there, i could tell a difference if i tried to do a burnout.

 

275's all the way around on stock wheels, that has to be weird on the front.

I had the same on my 95 GT, it would rub on the front sway bar if your turned the steering wheel all the way,but only if you do the sharp turns, and that shouldn't be often, besides that, it won't. I have a friend that has a 03 GT and has 275's all around, and it's the same for him. I have 245's up front and it rubs against my front swaybar, but the Saleen front sway bar is thick, thicker than a GT or Cobra swaybar.

As long as the wheel itself never touches, it's no biggy.

 

275's all the way around has one benefit... he can rotate them...!

 

I'm takin the front one's back so that i can get some that don't touch the swaybar. What size should i get on the front? Also could changing these tires to the 275's cause my speedo to be off because it felt incorrect after i got the tires on.

Don't take your tires back, get some 17X9s!! Sure the 275s fit, but look at your contact patch, your WASTING over an inch of tread. I had ONE set of 275/40s on 17X8s, never again! As far as sway bar contact, if you're cranking the wheel that far, it isn't under normal driving conditions!!Oh yeah, 275/40s and 245/45s have the same overall diameter, in short, your speedo short comings are ALL in your head.

 

I was running 275 all the way around with no rubbing issues before I got the DDs for the rear. I still have 275s on the front and have no problems other than train tracking (which happens with all of them, just a little harder to pull out of with the 275s). Don't return the tires, no need.

 

"Train tracking" !?! What the heck is that!?! Understeer and oversteer I understand fine, snow-plowing, fish tailling, power sliding, etc. Train tracking, never heard it before.

 

Train tracking is when you catch a groove in the road and your tires pull along the groove instead of going straight. You end up having to jerk yourself out of the groove. Wider tires are much more prone to this.

 

Don't go with anything larger than 265 in the front. I have 265 in the front and 295 in the back on an 18" rim. Trust me or atleast someone who has them. 265 in the front is the widest you can go.

 

just using the stock size tires what is a good brand to buy to get some traction on the pavement???

 

i just bought yokohama 245/45x17 and they look a lil wider than my stock gatorbacks....the nice thing is that they are my all season tires where i can go into the snow (with much reluctance)
