yes it would work, but its vague. |
I'm glad I drive a V6 and have no intentions of going to the performance arena. This shit was tense!
Good luck with everything. Being a computer guy, I would run the car with a stock tune, then back with your tune again and see what the A/F does. People mentioned leaks, sounds possible as fords are ALWAYS bad for it. Good luck, and if your TQ stays that high after the new tune then DAMN thats BAD ASS! Almost 5.4 power. |

I'm just not willing to spend $400 for a gauge at this point.. I think if FI or Nitrous comes into play I will spring for it, but if spending that much money is the only choice at this point I'll just have to say no..
That's $400 + another gauge of some kind + $120 for a gauge pod... $600+ for a damn A/F readout. |
AEM makes some cheep a/f gages, i dont know if they work on mustangs thought.
|
I use this set up
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lc1.php I wired it up to my Autometer A/F gauge. |
This looks like it may be a good deal, what do you think?

That's a great deal and a very popular gauge kit.
|
Interesting,, I've heard people say you can use these to help maintain best MPG on the highway by finding the best A/F ratio at cruise.
Where exactly do you put an A/F gauge? In place of an 02 sensor? |
The gauge should go in the cabin somewhere where you can see it. The sensor should go into a new bung welded into your X/H pipe BEFORE the cats. Make sure to read all the installation instructions before picking a spot for the sensor. There are some considerations to be made.
The display... I'd put somewhere like steering column or A pillar. The controller tends to be kinda bulky and can limit where you can put the gauge. EDIT: AFR has only a part of the mileage and it's a small part. Engine load (amount of air coming in) is more important. Keep the engine under as much vacuum as possible and you'll have it under the least load possible, so you'll get the best average mileage. Look up hypermiling for more information. |
Glad you got some things figured out. The tq. was seeming a bit high considering I have 340rwtq running at 5lbs of boost.

BTW: My pypes Cats have bungs in them already that have just been plugged with bolts, is that going to be a good place to put it or will it probably have to be further away from the cats? |
that's gunna do just right for you. Should be a simple 4-5 wire install.
|
Ohh yeah! I remember now, it was a vaccum gauge.. Good catch!
|
Thats a damn good price. When I was shopping, AEM were still fetching 300 everywhere.

Probably go ahead and pick one up tonight.. Now the only problem is deciding on where/how to put it... I really don't like the steering wheel pod.. I think I'm going to have to get a pillar pod and some other gauge.. |
Hey Evan, like R3d said on the installation, make sure that you position the sensor in the pipe where no moisture will collect on it and damage the sensor. 10 o'clock or 2 o'clock are good spots. Make sure that the bung is welded in completely with no leaks and everything will be fine. Great numbers by the way, Congrats!

I'm going to get the AEM wideband gauge, but what other gauge should I get at this point? |
If a fuel pressure gauge is necessary, how does this setup look? I like the fact that it is simple and doesn't have a bunch of crap on it..
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CYB-A211E351Y/ Description is kind of vague, but I don't think it would need anything else to be functional would it? |
did you explode your car yet?

Did I miss it somewhere or did you get a new tune Evan? Interested in seeing what the correct new torque will be..

I'll be running a 100 hit of Nitrous and I'll get a normal 93 tune at the same time. |
NEW TRUE NUMBERS!
2 Attachment(s)
Took the car to C&C Performance for some N/A and Nitrous pulls today!
I am needless to say very happy with the results, especially considering how hot & humid it was @ 96*+. We tried a couple of different variations with the pills, but ultimately ended up sticking with the Dynotune 100 Shot because it seemed to give the best overall performance with regards to the Hp/Tq numbers. Best Overall N/A Pass: Attachment 15048 N/A shows a pickup of 15 Hp/7 Tq with the headers/catback alone. Best Overall Nitrous Passes: Attachment 15049 Aaannnddd, of course I couldn't leave it without a video. Please excuse the quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTVoytDC3ug |
nice numbers man, a 90+hp improvement and well over 100tq....should definitely put you well into the 12's at the strip.
|
Nice, you got exactly what you should have with the nitrous. Damn good job, that is a monster purge if I must say. Cool vid too.
|
awesome numbers man
