04 Gt Dyno
2 Attachment(s)
Just got back from the local speedshop, and my car threw down about 252Hp & 283ft/lbs. It was really hot in there, with no airflow what so ever. The dude at the shop said my 4.10's were throwing off the dyno reading by about 5-8 hp... but I don't know. I was hoping for about 270. Guess I'll have to bolt on the Z.E.X kit sitting in my garage now...:devil2:

Do you have a 5 speed or Auto? If 5 speed i pretty much the same bolt ons so i wonder if that's what i'm running. Not to bad though. Good Torque.
|
I'm guessing by the Steeda Tri Ax in his sig that he has a 5 speed.

Good numbers, Is that ZEX kit you got dry or wet? If it's a dry kit.....sell it dont even waste your time messing with it. A 100 shot from it you might see 65-70hp gain.
|
its a 100 shot wet kit... I suppose I need to richen my A/F quite a bit before I use the Z.E.X. what do u think? Kinda lean it looks like to me. Where should my A/F be before I use the spray?
|
With a zex kit it will automaticly richen it up to where it should be, otherwise it will shut itself off if it doesnt read enough fuel coming through. Thats why they call it "the smartest nitrous system".
|
With your bolt ons 245-250 is the norm for your car, so 252 is pretty good. The zex will help alot but i would get the wet kit and if your motor isn't forged, don't go to crazy on the shot, and have it tuned for it. Also zex is rated for power to the crank, but some of the others are rated to the wheels. Also the more bolts ons you have to your car, the less power to the wheels. If you have a stock mustang and put a zex 100 shot on it, you'll get around 80hp to the wheels, put it on a mustang will CAI, exhaust, pulleys, better TB and plenum, and you'll get around 65HP with the same shot, nitrous is there to improve the effeciency, once you start improving with bolt ons, the less it has to improve. But then you move the shot up or get a better brand like NX, but a retune will have to follow.

Oops must have missed that part. :wallbash:

That NA a/f is way lean. Should be no higher then 13. A lot of tuners will put it around 12.5 to be safe. Power adder a/f should be around 11.5.

So Before Installing my nitrous, and just to be safe...richen up my tune to at least 13?
|
No for n/a you want to be right around 13:1 not over just right under it for safe good power.
For nitrous like any power adder you want it as close to 12:1 this is safe and makes power. |
definitely don't go romping on it with that AF... try cleaning off your MAF element... that might help. I'm betting your K&N was a little over oiled and gooped the element. Normally they don't run that lean.
FWIW... I would have aborted the run at 3500rpm with an AF like that. In fact I'd be upset if a TUNER ran my car to redline at 14.4:1... really upset. |
wow, your running WAY lean man! So did the shop actually tune the car or did you just do dyno pulls to get some numbers?

my hunch is that there's probably 10-15hp more on the table if they fix that AF down to 12.5:1-13:1? Then you can run more timing. In any case your EGT will be pretty high at 14.4:1 so do get that seen to.
