13.73@101mph

Went to the track and my 06 GT ran a best of 13.73@101mph. The first run was a 13.89@100.17 which I was very happy with. I was expecting a low 14 in the high 90s. The second was the 13.73@101.39. The third was a 13.93 @100.00. I left the traction control on and manually shifted from 1st-3rd. The Car bogs off of the line until about 3500 rpm and then really pulls hard. The only mods so far is a CAI from C&L. I ran 87 octane. 60' were in the 2.15 range. Yes it an Automatic

Nice.

Question, how the hell did you manage to manushift it that well? Every time i try to manushift it ends up taking about 2-3 seconds to complete the shift. Obviously im doing something wrong. <grin>

Don't Manu shift in the first place..............it doesnt work well and can screw up your tranny........Second thats a pretty good time and a decent 60 ft. I would like to see a print out.

Take traction control off and spin the rocks off them pirellis. Brake torque the car and give it the beans. you might lower it 1/10 or 2/10. all in all, great numbers for basically a stock mustang!

Gixx1300R 12-08-2005 04:04 PM

The track was prepped pretty good. Everything from 1500hp to stock cars was hooking. That last run was against a Turbo Supra (damn him). The 60 and 330' could have been better. I noticed that my car bogs until about 3500 rpm.

Icefreezen 12-08-2005 05:27 PM

Yeah I see some consitancy in the runs where you had trac-on and off.....take trac-off all the time do not manu-shift since you have street tires spin your tires just enough to get the crap off maybe drop the tire pressure a wee bit and you'll be set to ge. Good runs though, but your done experimenting...lol no more of that.

MattJ 12-08-2005 05:49 PM

I dont know how the weather is by you but get them pirellis at 31 PSI warm, and burn them tires up in front of the water pit. I have the same tires but in a different size. If its a nice day like 75 or up, them tires will turn sticky. Keep out of the water with them as much as possible.

On mine, I get in front of the water pit, and spin the rocks off, back up a tad bit, and ROAST the tires all the way to the tree.

Uhhh ok thanks. That was my first time at the track with the Stang but not my first time running at the track. My Hayabusa runs 8.20s :D I also used to have a 1984 GT . Damn that was 21 year ago.

spike_africa 12-08-2005 07:15 PM

you dont need to heat street tires at all just a few secs to clean off the rubber is all thats needed.

Ive got Pirelli Pzero Neros just like the new GTs do. They turn sticky if you warm em up enough as I mentioned above.

nope with a street tire just do as above street tires do not need ot be smoked that is a waste of rubber regarless of what brand tire you use unless its drag radials or slicks dont bother doing big smokeys at teh track it will hurt your time rather then help a simple 4-6sec burnout will be good enough to clean them off.

I noramly go around the water (ever car without skinnys up front should also do this) then rev it up dump the clutch let them spin for a few secs press in the clutch and stage. This was back when i had street tires and cut many 2.0x on stock good year rubber.

I never said anything about sitting and smoking them. I said warm em up because they get sticky. lol

spike_africa 12-09-2005 06:41 AM

Um not too bad. Ive had well over 50 1/4 runs on em, plus ate them alive brand new on a road course. I dont burn out at all on the street or anything like that. ive got 11k on mine and they seem real good still.

MachGT 12-24-2005 01:36 PM

ha, yeah, I ran a quick supra once at the track, the guy couldn't hook worth a darn. He had a 2.3 60' to my 1.9 and I had a bit better RT, about halfway down the track I hear what sounds like a jet plane go flying by me... lol

he beat me pretty good (pre blower)
