What kind of affect do these factors have on our cars?

I feel like my car is/should be capable of running a little better than it is, I'm especially dissapointed in my 60' time, but everyone seems to be having the same problems so I know it's not just me.. We have an '03 Cobra in our club on E/T streets pulling 1.75-1.8 60' consistantly, so I don't feel all that bad about running a 2.0..

I ran a very similar GT tonight (Intake, Plenum, TB, Exhaust) and he ran a 2.16 60' & 9.2811 1/8th..

As you can see in my sig, humidity is rediculous here right now, so I'm wondering, could that be hindering the overall performance of my car .2 or more? I'm not sure what our elevation is here, but I assume it's fairly high (may be totally wrong in that.) :dunno:

Anyway, I know the cats have to be hurting me a bit, restricting the motor a little anyway, so as soon as I can the O/R X is going on.. Can you think of anything else that could be hurting my E/T?

BTW I just looked up the elevation and the track I ran tonight is roughly 600' above sea level.

air down the tires for better 60fts. ET streets are similar enough to what you have. if you want better times powershift the shit out of you car and never short shift.

I just feel like there is something off.. Not necessarily "wrong" but something just doesn't seem right. I'm not slouching on the shifts and I launched at about 2500 yesterday and it bogged like a mother fucker.

Going to do some routine maintenance hopefully tomorrow if it's not raining, Plugs (Motorcraft AGSF-22C's), fuel filter (Motorcraft) and if I have time I'll try to get the X-pipe on it as well..

Heading back out to the track on Sunday (1/4 mile this time) if it's not raining.... So these few things should give me some kind of an idea if I'm on the right track.

I've still got some fine tuning to do, firewall adjuster, tire pressure, etc so any one of these variables could be hiding that couple of tenths I'm looking for..

if you are bogging on the launch than you are giving to much clutch and not enough slip (feather). i drive an auto but i got my AWD WRX to cut a 1.8 with a 4500 launch on stock all season rubber, LOL.

so, what im sayin is give more revs and slip it out just a lil bit. the best place to practice is daily form stop light to stop light. this is where i learned to really launch my mustang and it has paid off well running on taxi way race tracks here in germany

If your bogging then you need to raise the rpms more. If your popping the clutch at 2500rpms no wonder its stalling. You need to bring the rpms up to 3,500-4,000rpms and slightly slip as you move out. That is of course if your worried about just reving it up and dumping the clutch. Run the same tire psi and work on the launch then go and work on tire pressure. Every car is different and your gonna have to see what works for you.

Plugs were a mess... All of them were gapped @ 60 to 70 and the Electrodes were worn and rounded. They were also platinum plugs. I'm sure that will make some kind of a difference in performance, even if it's just a minor one.

The Fuel filter was pretty nasty as well, definitely had a lot of crap in it.

Didn't have time to get the X in tonight.. Changing the plugs was definitely a challenge, the drivers side was easy as pie, but the passenger side is a PITA.

plug change is easy as pie...takes me less than an hour.

fuel filter with the right tools takes about the same amount of time.

platinum plugs came stock on mustangs so i hope you bought stock replacements.

I guess if I had known exactly how to take the Fuel rail off and get everything out of the way on the passenger side then it wouldn't have taken as long, but it was a little bit of a PITA to figure out the first time.

Fuel filter took less than 10 minutes..

Went with the Copper Core AGSF-22C's (One step colder) as recommended by Randy, r3d, Dan, Blake, etc...

Those or NGK TR55's are always good. Oh yeah no need for pulling the fuel rails I made that rookie mistake too the first time I did it. The coils will come out without the rail being taken out. Just gotta push them down and then pull them out from under the rail. If the plugs were that worn out I'm sure you will see a bit of a difference with a plug swap. Keep us updated on how it goes. It cool to see someone else who is into making their times better.

They're coming off on Friday if it's not raining. Used a vacation day for a 4 DAY WEEKEND! Damn, that's gonna be nice. :)

Hell Yeah! nice improvement and the 60' is good for the power you make. I don't think taking the cats off is really gonna make it much quicker at all. Don't you have a highflow catted X on that car? Keep on the updates I'm very excited!

It has the stock H on it right now with all 4 Cats still in-tact.. The O/R-X has no cats at all, lol.. You don't think there will be much difference after that?

Oh there is a large difference with a mid pipe swap. I just thought the car already had a catted x on it, must be a different white car I'm thinking of.

On a side note, I dropped a solid 3 tenths and picked up 1mph with nothing but a mid pipe swap to an o/r H-pipe. No other mods done and in even hotter weather then the previous best.
