About to race a 06' gti
 

This kid in school came up to me the other day and asked me if i wanted to race, cant really turn that down lol. hes got an 06' gti with the dsg auto trans which supposedly shifts faster than manual. its chipped, and he claims an extra 50 hp, i laughed in his face when he said that lol. I am completly stock except for a magnapacks. I've raced my other friends 06' gti which is stick, but he completly sucks at driving and i only had him by a car and a half up to about 70. I know as long as i make all my shifts, i should be able to take him, but any thoughts or experiences with gti's? If everything goes well, i also plan to have a venom 1000 kit with a 100 shot. Hoping to have it installed before we race.

I have never seena GTI go faster then high 13's locally ever. I dont ever worry about loosing ot those cars. SO if i was you, i wouldnt worry either.

Youll have no problem. Dont even need the n20 for this one. It would be an embarrassment if you sprayed against him.

I think you should win considering they are fat ass pigs. But don't laugh at the kid, truth is chipped turbo GTI's easy see 50-80 hp gain from them.

If i were you, I'de spray the piss out of your car just to make a point to him. Beat him bad enough to the point he kicks his own *** for thinkin he could beat you. Altho on a side note, dont over look a GTI...I've seen a few on the dyno pushing 300+ hp on a little 50trim and they looked bone stock on the outside besides the exhaust. Be sure you look under the hood and see if it does have a turbo upgrade. For being chipped and claimin 50+hp...that is very possible seeing they come from the factory with a safe tune just like the srt4's/Evo's and WRX's do.

well ive decided to scrap the nitrous idea and just go with 4.10's and a tuner. all of this will be in before we race.

I come from a family of GTIs and used to have a 1.8t (all maxed out) myself. I test drove one of the new 2.0t and stock it was like driving my 1.8t chipped. But heres the bottom line, the new gti dsg stock does high 14s and him getting his ecu reflashed adds about 20 to upper 20s horsepower to the wheels (no way 50). So I bet with his upgrade he's about mid 14s, so yeah I bet it will be close but you should be able to take him because they spin there front wheels like a mother when the get chipped. And always remeber Turbo cars ALWAYS feel faster than what they are, I thought I was hot crap when I had mine all maxed out with every bolt on and ecu upgrade to man until a stock ls2 completly wasted me.:shakeno:

tuners are worth almost nothing on a stock motor'd NA car. get a shifter, o/r X and a speed cal for the gears. maybe even some 275 nittos...

haha, i just test drove an 07 GTI the other day for the hell of it, they are slow as hell, dont even worry about it.
