What do you launch at?

when I had my old DR's and before the cams I was launching at about 3000-3500 rpms.. thats was the perfect spot for me between spinning and bogging. I was pulling 1.90 60fts doing that. Just spend some time and you'll find the right spot.

I launch at squirrels.

I don't drag race anymore! But back in the days when i did, i'll tell you this much...I drove my car like i stole the fawker! There is no perfect launching point that is perfect for any 2 cars. With that said, i put some dr's on and launched at 4500 rpms and i did a few 5k launches. I don't recommend doing that, but if you do, hope for the best..

Where in VA are you?

MattJ 08-21-2006 05:54 PM

I launch at 1100-1300 rpm depending on the lane im in. If I go more, I spin horribly. I pull 2.0 60 fts with that.

Id love to. Traction is ALWAYS an issue at the track, and I think its pretty clear that I can drive it. Tires arent going to last much longer. they have 18k on em with dragstrip runs. Im going to wait to see if I get my firefighter job in florida then ill buy new rims and tires.

03gtmustang 08-21-2006 07:28 PM

Yep, Id say its pretty obvious. Good luck with the job.

With my MT DR's I lauched at 3K with some bog and a 1.98 60ft, so next time at the track will be 3500-4000rpms.

Blk02stang 08-22-2006 06:19 PM

if your on a drag tire, dont be scared of it....launch that MoFo!!!! My first time on DR's they were like 20-30min old...4k launch on 12psi in them lol. Launching @ 4k on the bottle is even more fun...feels like the front wheels are comin up! If you break something then your doing something IMO. When i launched mine a couple weekends agon on the street againt a STI, my buddy behind me said it looked like the right front came off the road with the car twisting soo much!

Saleen S330 08-23-2006 10:35 AM

I have to be alittle scared, my stock axles are 9 years old. i lowered my psi to 18 but 12...damn, did the tire slip any on the rim?? I know when i bought mine and had them mounted on my 97 cobra rims, i pained a white mark on the rim and tire and on 18 psi they both moved about an inch from where they were suppose be at. I just need axles and i'm set, i already have the 31 spline posi.

Blk02stang 08-23-2006 04:01 PM

I marked mine also...and they never moved. I've been running them lately on the street when i run someone @ 10psi.

Man, it must look like you have a flat tire at 10psi

Blk02stang 08-23-2006 06:08 PM

yea, but you get some people who realize your on a DR and dont say anything. Then you have your under privilaged people who say "Hey man you know your tires are flat?" lol all you can do is laugh at them after they say that.....NO really? I thaught maybe i had to much air in the front 2 tires!
