New Times! ****ty track though

My reaction time sucked balls.....:wallbash:

R/T------ 1.0046
60FT---- 2.3231
330FT--- 6.2
1/8 ET-- 9.4432
1/8 MPH- 76.35

I am slipping the clutch pretty aggressively at around 2100rpm and the tires are spinning really bad. My tire pressure was at 25psi on street tires. Should I be running a lot faster with what I have? My lowest time the other day was a 9.33 but I havent been able to get that ever again.
ANY ADVISE?

just out of curiosity.. i'd try an ET calculator to see what it says, like the one on MD. cuz where I live it's pretty dang humid and it effects it a lot. I'd say get some drag radials on there too and get that 60 ft down. that would help :)

04MustangGT 06-09-2006 11:59 PM

It is also very humid were I am.
Going to sound like a newb but MD? (modular depot)?
Yeah I am getting DR soon hopefully the bfg drags. What is a good rpm to slip the clutch with for take off or if dumping the clutch is better what would be good?

csledd 06-10-2006 12:00 AM

I just experimented to find out whta was best in my car.. I got the best 60 fts (1.90) launching at 3k rpms and just dumping the clutch

on stock street tires i found it best to rev to 3k and slip it out of the hole. Dont use the clutch to much or you will smoke it very the gas and clutch more so on the gas then clutch pedal. this got me many 2.0 60' on street tires.

04MustangGT 06-10-2006 12:38 PM

Thanks sounds good^^^ I will try that next time!

i got a 2 flat 60' on street tires by launching at 1300rpm. youll have to try different combos for the weather, your tires, and the track and find a match to what works the best. Different things work for different people.

ya thats true for sure---i bogged off the line (after a low rpm dump) and ended up with a better 60' time then when i held it at 2500 and feathered it out. its different for everone thats a definite thing

You need to launch as soon as you see the 3rd yellow. At the track I run at they would of said you must have been adjusting the radio or something.
In Drag Racing the 3rd Yellow means GO! and Green means way slow.
Good Luck:beerchug:

High RPM launches and street tires don't cut it! Your short times are proof. 1.0 R/T is sleeping on the tree, but R/T doesn't mean a thing if you are only after your own times. However, it is really cool when your killer light and slower ET beats a slow R/T and a faster ET to the stripe!!:punk:

spike_africa 06-13-2006 08:53 PM

i never gave a **** about reaction time either. But yeah just go try some different launch techniques and let us know how you did.

Karls04GT 06-13-2006 08:54 PM

Oh yeah, 25 psi on street tires is good for running through the sand dunes, not increasing traction at the drags! Street tires do best at the track at their advertised psi rear and over psi'd up front.

True, RT's mean crap, it's all about your 60ft time. If your racing, who gets to the finish line first, sure, but i'm all about my times and trying to improve them, so i concentrate on the 60ft. If someone wants to race, then hell yeah i jump on it on the 3rd yellow....
It's true to, everything, where you are, is a varitable on how to hook at what rpms, or how to slip your clutch. you'll have to find out what works for you. run it, change your style up, if it's better...cool, if not..try something else.

you can also go to www.uprproducts.com and use there calculator, u just have to find it on the site. but it's there.
