front swaybar

Why is it i hear some people say to unbolt your front sway bar when you drag race? anyone know?

tuffyman 03-30-2006 04:10 PM

yes. I know

Jack The Ripper 03-30-2006 04:14 PM

sway bars only improve cornering right?
and they add weight.

i dont think they are really needed for drag racing.

You lose about 25 lbs off the front end and it also helps with transferring weight to the rear a bit. Mines been off for two years now.

It does transfer the weight better but i hope no one would take it completly off. Disconnecting it at the endlink, or just taking off for the track is good to go but not leaving it off all the time. I took mine off before i went to the track awhile back, didn't want to take it off there at the track plus i didn't want to leave it somewhere and some one takes it, and it sucked on corners. I remember passing another car while i was driving up there and when i turned back into the lane.....it was just sloppy. I always leave it on and i now just unbolt it at the track.

I have no problems with mine off full time, the sport springs help compensate.
I have over 25,000 miles with mine off and have not rolled tha car into a ditch yet.

If you like it off, that's cool. Even with my H&R springs, Bilstein Struts, subframes and this and that, i still don't like to have it off. If feels like it has alot of body roll but....the front sway bar is Saleen and they are WAY thicker than a GT or Cobra Front Sway bar, maybe that's it.

To be off the subject for a second, Blue02GT, what RPMS at 80MPH do you run at with 4.30's?
