Sprangz Springs, put em in!
 

Welp, i got the springs in yesterday.

Tell ya what, im impressed. Right off the bat the car handled better in turns. The ride is not quite as stiff as i expected which is good in my view. My car has dropped about 3/4 inch on the front and about 1/4 to 1/2 in the back, not a very dramatic drop, but it still has a while to settle down, im sure the front will be over an inch within a week. As it settles i expect it to corner ven better.

They definatly improve the feel of the ride. I have nothing to really compare them to, but for the price? you just cannot beat them.

Im sure a lot of you already know how to do this, but if you dont, this will save you some heartburn, Total install time by myself was 5 hours, without knowing what you were doing.

==========INSTALLING THE FRONT==============

Jack up car.
Remove tire.
Remove Brake Caliper (unless you wanna stretch the brake line)
Disconnect Strut (i did this from the top, way easy)
Then there is this little bar that comes out from the front and connects to a post on the caliper assembly between some big blue bushings, disconnect this above the bushings, pulle off one of them and the whole caliper assembly at that point will drop another 8 inches. (thats why you should remove the brakes, or yergonna pull and strain the brake line)

At that point you still need a spring clamp, put it on the spring, you only need to compress it an inch or two.

Pull out the old one, take the rubber fittings and put them on the Sprangz Spring. The spring fits in easily, in fact, it will seem a bit small at first.

Then take a jack, put it under the caliper assembly and start jacking it up and hold the spring in place untill it starts to compress, Keep jacking the assemble up untill that post with the bushings meets the bar it connects to and put that back together.

Jack it up a little more and re-attach the strut at the top under the hood, then reconnect the brake caliper.

Put the tire back on and move to the other side.



============INSTALLING THE BACK============
Jack up the car
Remove the wheel
Disconnect the shock at the bottom
Then disconnect the other strut that angles to the back, at the back.

At this point the axle will drop a few inches, i had a smaller buddy of mine stand on the axle and kinda bounce it up and down while working the rear spring. The spring will eventually pop out if you work it enough.

To get the Spangz spring in i had to use a spring clamp and compress it about 1 inch, my buddy started hopping the axle again and i got it popped in place.
Removed the clamp, re attacked the shock and strut, put the wheel back on and lowered it back down.

It took me about 5 hours, i did the whole thing myself except for where my buddy made a trampoline out of the rear axle.


Make sure you get the clamps that fit OUTSIDE the spring, the ones that go IN the spring are useless, it is also adviseable to pick up 5-6 bug ass nuts that you can put in the clamp where the washers are so it starts to compress earlier.

You sir, should be banned for this. How can you post that you installed springs and not post the pics...:D Glad you got em on finally, they make a huge difference in the look, feel, and handling of the car.

Funny story about that.

About 2 weeks ago my digital camer went MIA.

I searched everywhere, i remember having it the night before when were were partying it up, then it was gone. Figured somone stole it.

Well, i was having with a buddy i aint seen in a while and i mentioned it, he says "You dumbass, you let me borrow it like, 2 weeks ago remember?"
Then it dawned on me. Oh yah... i did... Duh.

Anyway,i got the camera back, but it was last night and i finished my springs in the afternoon. Ill see about pulling off a front an rear wheel and pointing out what you need to disconnect.

Heh. I got 2 camera's now. When i was going to retrun the spring clamps (rent em from checker, 55 bucks, keep em as long as you want, return when yer done for full refund) i forgot i had my cellphone sittin on that area with the wipers. I took off and was cornering like a mofo.
Phone flew off and got ran over like, infinity times. DOA.

So i had to get a new phone, picked one up with a camera feature, pretty tight. Actually, i think ill get a pic of the damage to my car and post that up.

I put mine on this past Saturday..Looks great...I already have about an inche in the front and 3/4" on the rear..I heard it could take 15-30 days before they settle all the way. Oh well...Im already happy with the way the car looks and handles... :D Oh and took me about 4 hours to do them with help...

I did mine the same way except I popped the hood and disconnetced the brake lines from the little plastic clips and got a lot more slack.

Yea, it will take about a month to let them settle all the way down. Mine is a lot lower than it was when I first installed them. Man, I need an alignment too...hmm, Ill wait until the bullitts come. :D

ok so.....how low is it now in inches?

I think its only like an inch and a quarter lol. Nothing drastic, but lower than it was originally. Ill take some pics soon, veddy soon.

Also I heard that if you take out the bumper stop in the rear, it will lower alittle more in the rear if you desire to do so.

No, you really cannot see them at all, they are tucked in there and the tires really block the color. You CAN see the rear ones through the rear wheel if you get real low.

The inch measures just under 1 inch drop, the rear about 1/2 inch.

im sure it will take several weeks for it to reach the final level though.

The car definatly looks more aggressive, but it doesent have that "Lowered" look

so still sporting the 4x4 look right now?? what size tires you running?

I can see mine on the rear with the stock rims, Im curious if when I put the FR500 if they will be more visible. I will take some pics and post them.

What color car? I am wondering how garish the orange springs would be with a black car.

Mine is white, with the silver star rims...Im putting the black FR500. Im thinking it will show up better with the dark rims...Hope so....

Welp, they have been in for a week now. the back has lowered 3/4in and the front is down 1inch.

its amazing how much of a difference such a suttle drop can make in appearance and handling.

so how about some photos??

yeah Def. I got back FR500's and you can see everything. One reason I wana upgrade the brakes when I get a chance, you see everything! your suspension is NAKED!

Slappy: Would you then recommend the Sprangz??? I'm waitin to see if you have any problems with them in the future. And whats with you and breaking things? the car? the phone? damn...

Yeah i reccommend them. Honestly i have no point of reference to compare them to because ive never used any other springs. All in all, im more than satisfied with the price vs performance.

My camera was MIA when i was doing the work, just got the camera back recently. With the stock GT rims you can NOT see the front springs at all, you can see the rear springs if you are on the ground looking through the wheel. ill try to get some pics of the new stance and put those up. Im probably not gonna jack my car up, pull off the wheel and take a pic. well... maybe i will. it will be a little while though

Just a pic of the car so we can see ride height and a close up of a wheel and fender (maybe with a ruler or something). No need to take the car apart.

OK I got off my lazy butt and washed her , and took some pictures. I installed mine about 2 weeks ago, and I have just about got what the advertised drop is..
1 1/4" in front and 3/4" in the rear...

Final drop ebnded up roughly 1.25 in front, 3/4 in rear, as advertised

Much more and i wouldnt have been able to get up the driveway anymore. <rofl>
