high speed vibration
 

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with high speed vibrations?
I have a 92 LX 5.0 hatchback. I have had the drive shaft removed, checked and balanced, no problem there. The engine and trans are very well balanced also. Everything on the car is pretty much original equipment, with a few minor upgrades; fuel injectors, ignition, throttle body and exhaust.
The vibration seems to come from the rear of the vehicle and appears around 95 mph but dissipates some after 115 mph. If you grab the shifter it seems to be vibrating, almost like a buzzing.
Anybody out there have this problem, or know where I can have any recommendations on where to go to have this looked at?
I am on my way back to Europe this summer and would like to have this taken care of.

Hey, finally someone with the same prob. My 92 notch and my 91 notches gave me the exact smae prob. balanced the driveshaft replaced the tranny mounts, and it never got better. no doubt its in the tranny. I just bought a Mach 1 w/9000 miles on it and at around 80mph the vibration comes in and then it suddenly smooths out at around 110!!!WTH is going on. Ive cracked 2 tailshafts in 3000miles and now ford doesnt want to replace it without and engineer coming out. I cant wait to hear the high tech over my head BS they are going to try and pull on me! anyways Ill let you know when and if I get the prob resolved.

I wonder if possibly its in the rearend. It sounds like a driveshaft problem but seems as though you have ruled it out. I know on the bottom of the rearend on my 01 GT, Ford bolted a weight to it to act as a dampener to help with vibrations in the rear end due to a not so perfect design.

Yea, i heard about somthing like that called the dogbone or somthing, Im gonna check it out and see if that could be the culprit, I just cant wait to talk tio the engineer and se what he says, Ive got 70% tread left on the orig tires, not saying I drive like a granny or anything, this isnt my first stang, but my first new stang, but any ways we'll see what happens and i'll keep u guys posted, peece out.

Ill be curious to hear the outcome. I have 20K on my 01 GT and dont think I have 70% left. More like 20%...oops..did I do that?
