A-Pillar water temp,,Routing?????

Someone please help me,,cant get a straight answer from anyone!!!

Trying to do as much work on my own car as I can to keep the wife happy money wise. JUST HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU FEED THE A PILLAR MOUNTED WATER TEMP COOLING WIRE FROM THE PILLAR,,THROUGH THE DASH AND THE FIREWALL?????

Im hanging the oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge and for the life of me can not figure out how to route the damn stuff. Problem being,,the temp sensor is quite large and i cant see how ya route it 'tween the a pillar and little hole that is in the dash. I REALLY DONT wanna pay someone to do this and ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you. :naka:

Do you have any pics of problem? I have mounted a triple pilar pod on my 85 SVO and I had to make a hole through my existing pillar to fit all wires. I ran down the pillar and there is a space in the firewall. You can use the the existing grommet, I cut it a tad to allow it to open up. I fit a 2g wire which is really thick. You can use silicon to reseal it but it does not leak so I left it alone.

Cool, that's where I thought I could route it through. I'll try to get a pic ASAP. What Im talking about is: After you pull the stock a pillar plastic and pull away the weatherstripping there still isnt enought room to fit the water temp sensor through the body of the car and the dash. Real confusing. I have the digital packed away for vacation or else I'd snap some shots. Now that I know where Im gonna send it through the firewall I just gotta figure out how to fit the sensor through w/out damaging it or the wire it's attached to. Thank you so much for the help tho.

Is it just a standard wire? You can cut it an solder it back on. Use heat sink tubing instead of black tape or use the glueless tape, that sticks to itself. Summit sells this tape and I think I also saw it at Walmart the Duck tape brand Green with duck on it.

You know,,Im betting that's what they did on my old 95. There's no way in hell that water temp sensor fits through the firewall. The wire,,or some kind of bendable metal has a black cover over it, It kinda feels like thick copper,,(hmmm, what would be used for temperature that gives a solid, accurate number to the gauge?) It's bendable but if ya get to many kinks in it it stays bent. Kinda like a paper clip when ya unfold it. Im clueless bro. Might just say f-it and pay a stang shop to do it.

I had the same problem years ago, I couldnt get the copper water plug sensor through any of the grommets. I pulled a grommet out of the trunk, and drilled a new hole through the firewall, Problem solved.
