New cold air intake. No power at WOT

Hi all, I'm new here, and have a prob. I just bought and installed a CAI for my 95 cobra and it runs fine until I'm at full throttle. It seems to bog down or just doesnt have the power it used too. I checked all the seals and made sure everything is in its proper place and and im stuck. When I'm about in 2nd shifting to 3rd, the check engine light comes on. It then goes away after about 10 seconds when I let up on the gas. Any ideas. Please help. btw, this is the 1st mod on this car. The rest is stock

Or was it broken in the process of installation?

I am with the last two guys. I am wondering about the MAF. A CAI will not make a car bog...something is not right.

Unfortunately it is all on and seems ok. I wish it woulda been that easy. Do I need an aftermarket MAF or should the stock 1 be fine?

stock is fine you just simpley didnt hook something back up that is the only thing that would cause the car to run like **** after installing a cold air intake.

Take the maf sensor off and look to see if you broke eather of the two metal wires they are very delicate

I took everything off and the mas is fine. I put the stock air box back on and the car runs ok now. Does the intake I bought matter. I got it from Mustangtuning.com. It says its for 94-95 5.0 engines. The car is a cobra. Would that make a dif.

spike_africa 01-09-2006 01:45 PM

i have no idea what you did but it shouldnt matter with a cai they are such a small mod that the car should be just fine unless osmething was done wrong.

95cobravert 01-09-2006 01:56 PM

Well this isnt the 1st cai ive put on a car. It is the 1st time I've seen this problem. 2 of my friends that work for ford dealerships as mechanics have no clue why this would happen. I'll prolly just leave the stock box on and get a drop in k&n and see if I can just return the cai. Thanks for everyones help. next up on the list.... gears

yeah that is the most random problem ever man i dont know what to tell you.

95cobravert 01-20-2006 01:01 PM

fixed the problem. I cleaned the MAF with some electrical connector cleaner and it runs like it just came off the show room floor. CAI works great now too

spike_africa 01-20-2006 09:04 PM

still the most random **** ever.

Might have been oil from the filter that coated the maf. Had the same prob.
