The Build

in this thread i will document the progress of my new build. the car is a second owner 1990 GT with 14k original miles. i picked it up with no motor or trans. it does have a tubular k member and a arms, flaming river rack and 5 lug conversion with axles and gears. the Drag Lites and M/Ts are brand spanking new also

the motor is being built as we speak by Bennett Racing and should arrive next week. it is a Dart block 347 making 510 hp and capible of 1,200 with power adder. very similar to the motor in this link except with Ford Z heads and RPM II intake.

the trans is a TKO 600 built by D&D performance with a Zoom stage 3 clutch and Ford Racing bell housing and billet flywheel

King 06-12-2009 12:01 PM

Kick butt. What are you gonna throw in there? And it looks like your going for a full-on drag, is that the case? or will it be streetable?

stangfreak 06-12-2009 12:12 PM

it's getting a 347 stroker and yes it will be streetable. in fact it may never see the strip

King 06-12-2009 12:22 PM

I believe there is a special place in hell for folks who keep 347 strokers off of the strip. lol. Looks like it'll be a fun build. When I'm done paying off my car, I'd like to get a fox and build her up.

stangfreak 06-12-2009 12:31 PM

yeah but the thing is, it's a 14k mile car. it is what most foxes aren't, tight. i don't want to rag out the torque boxes and twist up the body

King 06-12-2009 01:52 PM

Well whoever you picked it up from was definitely thinking like me here, I think. Something about the beefy tires out back and the skinnies up front scream drag track. lol.

stangfreak 06-12-2009 01:57 PM

oh yeah, those were just bought new for this car by me lol

10507158 06-17-2009 10:03 AM

something about it just make me....lol

stangfreak 06-19-2009 07:22 AM

I fucking love your Fox man. Can't wait to see more progress

audikillsbmw 07-26-2009 09:07 AM

Nice :D. Clean car and a sweet drivetrain setup. You're gonna have a lot of fun with that thing.

spike_africa 07-26-2009 04:26 PM

How the hell did I miss this thread. I love foxes and yours is super clean, nice buy on that one. And OMG I love that motor setup.

whitestang04 07-26-2009 06:53 PM

I love Fox bodies. Your build makes me want another one. Great job so far keep us posted.

King 07-26-2009 07:33 PM

I love the car! However I struggle with the thought of how that intake is going to clear, even with the cowl.

That intake should clear a stock hood the cowl will have plenty of room. The 347 shares the 8.2 deck height of the 302. ;)

NeedACobra 07-27-2009 12:10 AM

Thats gonna be a sick ass car.
I want Dyno sheets, Vids, etc.....
Or Ill hack your int3rw3bz.

Switch 07-27-2009 12:38 AM

This car looks great! It's the perfect example of what a fox should look like.

Black Sunshine 07-27-2009 08:50 AM

What a gorgeous Fox! Definitely the best interior I have ever seen in a Fox/Notch Mustang. Paint is gorgeous, too. I can't wait to see how it all pulls together. :)

Mr. Zip 07-30-2009 12:08 PM

stangfreak 08-04-2009 09:07 PM

well i got the flywheel, clutch and scatter shield installed tonight (pics upcoming) and found out the AJE k-member motor mounts will not fit a Dart block  so i guess i have to contact AJE and see what's up. that 347 was ready to slide in this fox like a fat lady in a hot bath tub
