Exhaust question

I have a 95 mustang GT with automatic transmission. When i got mufflers on they put a two chamber Flowmasters on. Well it wasn't the sound i wanted. I wanted a deeper and louder sound. So i bought BBk shorty headers and got them installed. I hear really no change in sound. Where should i go from here?

What kinda mid-pipe you working with?

spike_africa 06-12-2009 10:44 AM

If you just had a set of mufflers tossed onto the stock pipes its not going to do anything but make it louder and with slowmasters it wont be much louder.

You need to change the mid pipe out to get a louder sound out of the car now. For a nice old school deep muscle car sound you want an Off Road H-pipe on your car for sure.

Here is a clip of a 302 with that setup.

you could always lose the factory tail pipes and go with dumps

Blink1828533 06-12-2009 05:28 PM

Yeah i just have the stock pipes on now. Whats the difference between my stock pipes and off road ones?

probiker427 06-12-2009 07:37 PM

theres no cats on the off road pipes

Blink1828533 06-13-2009 05:00 AM

Well this sounds good. Now whats the bad and good side of buyin an h pipe with or without cats besides the sound. Will it cause spitting in the exhaust like the video clip

For your car, I'd say uncatted would be the best.

depends if you need to pass emission tests in your state also

That is true, unless you have someone who will pass you regardless.

ok so what if he goes with an off road h pipe and what happens to the smog pump and lines? im in the same boat but with a five speed

02trgt 01-05-2010 11:35 PM

i believe that is where MIL eliminators come in.

You can leave them there and the EGR setup will still work, but not as good.
