AM cold air intake?

I picked up the American Muscle CAI for my 95 GT. Lets just say I'm not that impressed......but for the money, it will have to do. First off, I had to purchase a couple of larger hose clamps because the ones in the kit were too small. Secondly, the bracker that holds the filter through the fenderwell....the mounts that fit into the stock rubber grommets......the holes that were drilled were nowhere close. I did manage to get one of them secured along with the rubber grommet and bolt that bolts it to the side of the fender at the top. Annoyances yes....but I did get it to fit half assed.

My bigger concern comes from the size of the filter they include with the kit. It is not very big? Not sure if it has to be, since they say it has more surface area to pull air in from, but I was expecting a little bit more. The filter is approximately 6-7" long and about 5" in diameter then tapering down smaller. (conical)

Will this thing flow enough air with that little filter? ....my car will also be getting a H/C/I swap in the next week or two......

Not to be a bitch, but what did you expect for a $79.99 intake?

Most intake filters are conical. Some are longer and don't taper as much (like the BBK) others are bigger around and shorter (like the Steeda). Technically, no matter the size, they still suck in the same volume of air. Think of it this way: you have two drinking cups. One cup is tall and skinny, and the other one is short and bigger around. Of course the tall/skinny one will look like it holds more. Fill it with water, and then dump that water into the short/fat glass and it will be the exact same amount. Make sense?

If you don't like the intake, you could always just reinstall your stock intake tube and attach the filter to it and it will essentially do the same thing. At least 99-04's can do that. I don't know about 94-98's.

Youll be fine, you can always buy a bigger filter, if it will fit the piping, and for the holes, i agree with sunshine lol. I saw that one and was like hmmm...cheap filter?? no thanx i bought the BBK one.
