Ive got a 94 gt and am looking for the best way modify it? i have already put on a cold air intake and flowmasters with an offroad H pipe.

Howdy and welcome to the board. I'm sure there will be alot of input on how to modify your 5.0, lots of people with experience with that engine. Best bang for your bucks though, is gears.

welcome aboard (For The Win)

Mixedbreed02GT 12-06-2007 08:22 PM

gears definitely...if you have a stock mustang, a set of 3.73's can knock a full second off a 1/4 mile time, but this highly depends on the driver's abilities and experience on the track.

spike_africa 12-07-2007 03:50 AM

Depends what you wanna do. Me i would straight to getting different heads, cam, intake. As thats where the power is at.

Bwhipple 12-07-2007 04:41 AM

4.10's FTW!!

X2. The stock components are not too good and even mild stuff picks up decent power. I say start off w/ a new manifold, get the heads cleaned up, and add some headers (long or short, your call depending on the law). And then, if the power isn't enough, throw in a more aggressive cam and some nice aftermarket heads (AFR has some great heads as well as Trick Flow).

I would go with a supercharger or turbo but if money is tight gears would be first on the list.

as for the manifold do you mean intake or exhaust?

bassman97 12-07-2007 01:22 PM

Intake (hence why I also said headers). FRPP, Edelbrock, and Trick Flow all make great pieces but the FRPP GT40 or Edelbrock Performer are probably the cheapest.

if it was me.................3.73's and a twin turbo :D:D:D:t:

why don't you save us all some hassle and tell us how you plan to use the car. Pure street commuter? Hot street? Street/Strip? Road course? etc...

The FIRST thing you should do has been said and it's one of the few universal truths with mustangs... 3.73's or 4.10's make them WAY more fun.

THE94gt 12-08-2007 10:34 AM

i have already picked out a set of 4.10 from motive performance.

THE94gt 12-08-2007 10:58 AM

i have also been looking at these bbk equal length headers, but im not sure if im in the ball park as far as performance

r3dn3ck 12-08-2007 11:20 AM

Longtubes or don't bother. Trust me... I'm a cheapskate but longtubes are worth it. 5.0 longtubes are on ebay for dirt cheap.

THE94gt 12-08-2007 11:26 AM

i found a set of MAC MUSTANG Long Tube Headers for $269.

THE94gt 12-08-2007 11:27 AM

is there a big difference in quality between ford performance gears and motive performance gears?

i usualy only race on the street but i do go to a track on tuesdays

r3dn3ck 12-08-2007 11:39 AM

Take the longtubes if you think they present value to you for the money. I find them all the time for various prices. 270 isn't bad if they're in good shape.

Since you do track days, check out a head/cam/intake package. Edelbrock makes GREAT kits that are proven to produce good power at a reasonable price. 5.0's are so easy to make power with that it's more a matter of deciding how much power you want to pay the fuel bill for. ... 300, 400, 500hp? BTW... don't plan on over 500hp unless you plan on buying an aftermarket block. Yours will become increasingly likely to give up the ghost shortly after 500rwhp.

THE94gt 12-08-2007 11:57 AM

thanks for all your advice, ya i do have a budget so i plan on slowly adding on mods. i think im going to start with those gears then look for that package deal.

THE94gt 12-08-2007 11:58 AM

i am still open for more advice

r3dn3ck 12-09-2007 08:40 AM

all the other guys had pretty good advice... I'd address their suggestions and see if they can sell you on the benefits of their way.

THE94gt 12-09-2007 03:23 PM

You will need to change the plastic speedo gear in the tranny. You can use the chart and find which one you need at steeda.com here is the link. Its a cheap simple swap very easy to do.

3.73 gears. 150 shot of nitrous. heads, cam, intake, tune.
