1989 GT worth

There is a 1989 GT coupe for sale at my local dealership. Recent trade in. Power windows, cruise, 5 sp manual, aftermarket CD, 54,000 original miles, black, new tires.

Its a real survivor I think. Original paint is very nice. A little fadding on the roof. No dings or dents and the interior is very clean. I looks like it has headers and a flowmaster exhaust but that is all the mods done to it.

They are asking 11,000 for it. I was thinking that it was work more like 7k and they probably only gave 5-6k on trade.

So tell me what you think. What should I look for on the mustang and is 11k way high??

11k?! i paid like 8500 for my 02 3.8. theres no way id pay 11k for a car that old, even with that many miles on it. for an 89 i would be thinking more in the 4-6k range

well the kbb "retail value" is around 3500...look it up on kelly blue book yourself first. You know more about the car condition than we would, but i DOUBT its worth 11k...hell i have a 2000gt and retail value on it just went down to 9-10k.

I do believe 11k is high. I usually go by what like cars are selling for on Ebay. I havent found anything that close on Ebay yet. I am thinking its more in the range of 7k. KBB is off quite a bit on vehicles that are that old I think. Plus from a dealer its going to be inflated. Granted the MSRP on a mustang in 89 was 13k.

i am curious what others have paid for there Fox bodies with lower miles in great condtions??

Wow

11K is way to high. I know it has low miles and all, but around my hometown they always have tons of 85-92 Gts with average miles on them for around 3500 to 6500 tops. I would find another car or make sure that it wasn't a cobra or something.

Its worth what someone will pay for it. The fox bodys are going up because people are paying big bucks for nice ones. There the next collector stangs.

Mine '88 5.0 LX hatch w/ 149,000miles sold for $3K. Drove it home from 60 miles away. Still nothing but routine maintenance, so it is a good car. All stock, straight body, repainted white. Cloth interior(clean, no big tears or burns), automatic.

That was a decent deal for as far as I can tell. $11K is too high I believe also

I bought an 88 gt coupe this past spring.awsome shape.it had 38k all origanal. I paid 7500, so ya 11k is way to much!!!!!!!!!!!!

mr triple six 10-30-2007 05:51 PM

yea 11k is way to much....i only paid 3K for my 89GT.
but mines was a private seller. although those are some low miles still not worth 11K time to talk them down.

T/Top 11-11-2007 06:10 PM

maybe 8500

zigzagg321 11-12-2007 03:41 PM

I paid 10 for my 01gt premium with only 20k miles on it. they are asking way too much.

ClemsonStang 11-13-2007 01:53 PM

you cant buy originality... fox cars are only out there gaining value. low mile cars are hard to find. the car isnt worth that much yet, but its only gonna go up in value over the years. still not worth 11k imho
