1994 gt help please

1994 gt 5.0l 5sp vortech sc at 8lbs. car runs great without sc,then when i put it on i keep blowing headgaskets. the first two set went when it got hot, the third went today sitting on the dyno just spinnin the wheels up a little, havent even done any pulls. what would be the cause of this??? AFM tells me that it is due to the stock e7 heads having to small deck thickness to handle a sc, but i cant see that being the case. there is countless other sn95s out there running with stock heads and a s/c.

details are a little skinny. what head gaskets are you using? is the correct tq sequence being followed? have the heads been milled? unevenly? they're probably warped now. get a new set.

they are fel pro graphites this time. the torque sequence was correct and i am using arp studs. the heads have been milled. i checked for flatness with the straight edge and level with the level. both good. as for being warped i havent taken it apart yet but im guessing they wouldnt be due that the car was not yet warm.

I was thinking they may have warped when it overheated and smoked the HG previously.

the last time i blew the hg was when i had them milled and all that good stuff.

they shouldn't blow w/ 8lbs unless you've got too much timing or not enough fuel or octane

Are you running with a BOV?

94IVGT 06-07-2007 11:17 AM

yes im running the bov. 'shouldnt' being the main word. timing is set at 10*. and there is plenty of fuel with 255lph intank, trex in line, 42lb injectors, afpr at 40psi.

cobra1923 06-08-2007 10:39 AM

did you drop down a heat range or two with the plugs?

94IVGT 06-08-2007 10:41 AM

yes

use studs instead of head bolts
