1995 running warm

My 1995 has a 302 with GT 40 heads, B303 cam, Cobra Intake. I am getting up to 210 and still not hearing the fans come on. Only got hotter than that one time and watched it come back down. The radiator is stock along with the electric fan. At what temp should the fans cut on? I have had the car for month and a half. Please help.

do the fans turn on with the a/c on??? if not then the fan is bad. but if it does turn w/ the a/c on then pull the plug on the coolant sensor the fans should then turn on if it dosen't then ur coolant sensor is bad and change that out and you should be fine. hope this helps

The fans are operating. They just don't come on until 210 to 220. I have been told this is normal. Seems awfully hot to me. I wanted to run a switch so I can turn the fans on whenever. Any suggestions there? Is there a way to over ride the computer setting of 210 to 220? The A/C is inop. Thanks for the help. Any more advice is appreciated!!!

a tune can change when the fan comes on. Or you can tap into the ecu wire that sends the single to the fan and use that to turn it on and off.

You would want to tap into the wire check this out its how you do it.

Spike, that is exactly what I need. I think this what I am going to do. Just bothers me to see that temp hit 210. It stays pretty cool because it is cold now and it isn't driven but once or twice a week. I just want to be able to control it and keep it cooler. Thanks for the help. I will let you know how it turns out!!!

Fix it like it needs to be!!! Dont run a switch, put new sensor or fix bad wiring or whatever is wrong, if any. There is a reason for the operating temp ranges of an engine, that engineers do alot of test to determine, they dont jus pick a number. These temps are for heat expansion and cyl. wall purposes. If you were looking through a microscope the cyl. walls are rough and as temp changes so do the walls, when at operating temp the walls are correct. Ever see an old car that smokes when cold and stops when warm? cyl. walls expanded and now seal, if you run it colder than normal you rings wont completely seal (might not smoke but wont completely seal) causing your rings to wear abnormaly and quicker than they should.

Well, it isn't broke. The fans are operating. Just seems 210 is awfully high. Main reason for the switch is more for when I am in traffic. That way I turn the fans on, especially when it is hot outside. That is why I want the switch.

just put a 180* thermostat....NOT the 160* not good for the car.

That was going to be done as well. Thanks for the advice. I will post later on once I get something done. I have also heard of an aftermarket fan that you can use that has a thermostat on it that you can set and it will come on at what temps you set the thermostat. Thanks for all the advice.
