it's supposed to clear but I don't care if it doesn't....I'm probably ordering a 2.5" cowl soon. I need an intake that can withstand nitrous. The p-51 as ugly as it is seems to be one of the few that have shown gains on an na car. |

funny, cause my 2001 GT put down 245/290 at the wheels with minor bolt on's and a tune...fox lakes numbers here dont make sense. Their numbers would mean that my car, with a CAI, TB and plenum, catback and an Xcal tune netted me 92 RWTQ?? and 58RWHP?? yeah, doubt it. |

mustang dyno i'd guess. doesn't really matter what dyno the result's were found on or what the #'s were as long as both runs were made with similar atmoshperic conditions and on the same dyno without any other changes. gains are gains.

Fox lakes advertised gains are BS and I have to admonish you that believing them is the highest form of folly. It's eye bleedingly naive to even for a moment think those are real numbers or that they have any reflection on your case/car. I can make a dyno spit out whatever numbers I want...it's just a guage. making it read wrong is easy. I'm not saying FL is scamming but the P51 intake isn't really good for NA street cars.
Now then, there are fully a half a dozen other aluminum intakes. The only 1 that's withstood a nitrous backfire that I know of is the HPS Hardball'r (seen the results). Some of the others like Trick Flow just haven't had a chance. The p51 won't hold a bang... it's got a lot of parts, a lot of interfaces between them and some fairly thin walls in the casting. It'll pop like a cork on the first good bang (a problem not seen on properly set up and used nitrous kits but a common worry anyway...fancy that). The Trick Flow, Fox Lake, HPS, BBK and Bullit intakes all have shown hit and miss potential for real 1-5hp gains on NA cars. Depends on your combo in a big way. With stock cams, no intake will gain anything considerable because it's not possible with stock cams. I'd suggest you do a helluva lot more research before selecting an intake. The P51 like the Reichard Racing intake is a blower car intake with short runners that's really only good on NA motors if you wind them out past 6200rpm. You need a very aggressive cam to take even a little advantage of the P51. Most of the others have longer runners and are better with more street oriented cams. The Bullit, Trick Flow or HPS intakes are FAR better suited to a nitrous car that's primarily a street car than the P51. Not pounding on you but you need to be told by someone.

oh yeah... that mustang dyno vs. dynojet... I just disproved it.
279/332 on a mustang dyno on wednesday 280/333 on a dynojet dyno on saturday ZERO tune or setup changes. THEY READ THE SAME WHEN OPERATED BY SOMEONE THAT KNOWS HOW!

if he could read corectly [ stock manifold 234 278 ] [ p-51 243 287 ] on a 2002 gt...at 2400 RPM! Average horsepower climbed from 187 RWHP to 198 RWHP, a 12 RWHP gain

don't get caught up in peak numbers or even average numbers. Those are ways of distracting you from the actual shape of the curve. I can't say the p51 is a bad intake ... it's just not for everyone.
Good luck chris. I'll let you know if I see one. Check the corral... they're on there now and then.
