A Lap Around VIR
 

Okay, here are some highlights of my trip to Virginia International Raceway this past weekend. A few points to keep in mind:

#1: Car has less than 70hp
#2: Just a few suspension mods and some sticky tires
#3: Sound quality sux cause I only have a mono input on my sound card.
#4: I had a lot of fun, but could have had more with a little itty bit more power.

Yes, and I forgot to mention that the tranny is not geared right for this sort of thing either. I ran most of Saturday in 3rd gear the whole track.

holy crap that thing was slow. but looked like fun. and damn that gearing was wiered. were you in 3rd the whole time? cuz when you shifted into 4th it would just fall on its face.

damn you kept up wth the wrx in the turns but on the straight bye bye

Actually, the car never saw 4th or 5th the whole weekend. I was in 3rd most of the time with the ocassional visit to 2nd for some added momentum which actually did nothing but make a lot of noise.

BTW, forgot to mention, at the end of the front straightaway, the car was just at 100 MPH.

When i first saw it i was like "Damns hes actually going pretty fast", and then i saw all the other cars pass you like butter, and then i just laughed to my self, but that looks like hell of fun, wish i had a track like that down here.

I will be back with mo powa. They will bow down to the Lil' Red Turd.

whats the power plans?

Slightly modified D16Z6. Should effectively DOUBLE my current power.

whats the HP cap on your class?

It's not done by HP it is done by trim level

H5 is what it is in now, H4 is where it will be:

ahh i see, so no HP rule as long as you use the specified motor and trim level of car?

Correct, BUT, you cannot do any real engine work so HP levels should be stock. They do DYNO tests to keep everyone legal.

ahh..ok. so its down to drivers skill and suspension/tires/chassis. are their regs other than veh weight, besides what you have already mentioned?

Not really, other classes have HP/Weight rules, but not the HC series.

Oh...I see weights in that list, I thought that meant something...I'll quit buggin ya with the 20Q's though. :beerchug:
