1st Timer in Action!!
 

Ran my stang last night! and got a best at 14.68 @ 98mph!! I heard that stock GT's run in 15's??? My first run was 15.1 @ 94mph but was my very first time and my reaction time sucked!! haha but improved!! I need some input! Was the time just where i should be at? Or needs improvement! Gimme some tips and comments!!

Also is "powershifting" help alot? And how do you exactly "powershift"??

holy crap! the best i ran a 14.68 my first time too, my first run was also a 15.1 !!! crazy!...im a little high in the air tho :P

and nah...stock GT's have been said to run high 13s on very rare ocasions, more realisticly mid-low 14s...definatley not bad at all!!

and dont power shift unless you have a aftermarket clutch and a built tranny, otherwise its not worth it..but what it is, is when you dont left the gas pedal when you shift, just keep it floored the entire time.

i know strange huh?? a 05 gt with intake ran a 13.9 n my buddy's sti ran a 13.3!! i got the footage, but not uploaded yet! aanyone care to view what i saw!!?? just let me know! thanks for the info! i def wont try the powershift not yet anyway, dont wana break anything!

Thats pretty good, but I've seen stock GT's run into the high 13's. What was your r/t and 60 ft.


With the performance modifications you should be able to get into the mid 13's with a good 60ft. You have 3.73's which really wake up the gears, a mid pipe, and catback, so I'm pretty confident you should be able to pull those times.

With power shifting, its something you have to practice, over and over in order to get good at it. Its all feet coordination with shifting. You definately aren't cranking out enough power to have to worry about transmission damages, input shaft breaking, or anything severe.

I couldnt dip into the 100mph to save my life! and about 15 feet from the end line i was slammin it into 4th!!! Ill keep trying!! im happy with the 14.6 for now!!

My car kept boggin down in 2nd! so i asked my buddy and he said it was because of my traction control being ON!! so with it OFF! we shall see if i can get better times!!! stupid me having TC ON!!

Here are some tips that will help alot.

1- turn off traction control it doenst help at the track.
2-shift at 5,500rpms and leave it in third with your stock gears dont shift into 4th
3-try reving the motor to 3k rpms and slipping out of the hole this got me many 2.0x 60's. Some say popping it at 2,300rpms works well for them (street tires only) so give that try and try a few different ways out too.

Also powershifting doesnt require a aftermarket clutch or different tranny.

over 50k miles on stock driveline with nitrous and drag radials and i power shift mine all the time. the key is not to miss and blow forks up.

whats the elevation at your track anyhow?

You can power shift on stock clutch and tranny all day long. I would suggest an after-market shifter such as a Tri-Ax to help prevent missing a shift.

It is not the Powershift that will screw ya....it's missing a shift.

Your 60 ft sucks. Your trap speed is pretty decent so your car seems to be making the power that it should, but if you could drop the 60 foot to a 2.0, you will be in the very low 14's and knocking on the door of 13's.

i have a bassani catback, bassani x pipe, and 3.73 gears!!! im thinking i shud lauch at 3,500 and ease out on the clutch instead of popping it and also with TC OFF and i shud def get better than what 14.6!! ill let you guys know if the weather doesnt keep me from going! thanks for the input!

An aftermarket catback wont really help much. So consider your mods as midpipe and gears. You should be running 13's with a better 60 ft. Dont worry about r/t right now, they dont affect your times. Try different methods of launching. Im thinking 3500 might be a little high on street tires.

If that is the case then you will need to shift into 4th gear. just shift at 5,500rpms and powershift its fine trust me.

i ran a 13.9 first time... shifter, aftermarket airfilter, and the catback...i launch from idle....and my best 60' was a 2.1

just work on it and you'll get better
