Exhaust

I have an 04 auto v6 and want to put new exhaust on it. I already have magnaflows on it but it sounds like crap. i have been researching on here and want to put long tube headers, a catted x pipe, and maybe a new cat back system. what do you all think is the best setup for the best v8 ish sound. i also plan on oputting on a prochager P1SC, what else might be good additions for preparaton for this? Thanks

full slp is the best for a v6 u wont get a v6 louder with that setup

also remember your going to ahve to change ur bumper

New Edge 12-24-2005 08:10 PM

ok so slp everything, i am having trouble finding the slp long tube headers, where exactly can i find them, also does it matter if the catback system is gt if i get the headers
Thanks

Save your money with the headers and x pipe. There is no point for a cross over on our cars. We are odd firing engine and a crossover isn't going to be doing anything for you.

Go 2.5" if your getting a procharger. Keep in mind it will take away some torque while you are still naturally aspirated.

One more thing, you and I well anyone with a v6 will never have that "v8'sh sound" It's just not feasable sorry. Good lcuk with your plans ;)

Edit: I just looked at your sig. If you're planning on buying an '04 GT why are you spending money on the six especially to get a second exhaust set-up and a blower down the road?????

word to the wise with v-6's don't bullsh it .. just save your money and swap the motor -2k-3k built and forged v-8 - best thing you can possibly do! :stupid:

So cuban i shouldnt get a crossover after my longtubes i should just run straight pipes? It will save me money thats for sure.
Remember also im putting my m-90 kit on soo i will have a bit extra spunk.

stang00 12-25-2005 06:11 PM

wtf cuban he shoudl def get headers and x pipe will help the sound a **** load and also it willl help with power just not as much if u had a gt

Headers will not gain him anything at this point. Our stock manifolds flow well enough until you hit around 300rwhp. The only headers that will help at all with power are long tubes, and those will just give you a small bump in torque, about 5-6rwtq. An X pipe has no point on our cars like I said before our cars are odd firing meaning our engines fire in this sequence 1-4-6 and 2-3-5. Keep in mind our cylinders are numbered as follows 123V456. GT's and other ford V8's run even firing and a crossover helps eliminate poping and gives good back pressure. Our engines wouldn't see any of those benefits.

Yea just run straight pipes. Your long tubes coupled with the M90 will give you plenty of torque. You might find yourself wanting some more top end but with an M90 that's hard to come by honestly. But yea straight pipes all the way save some cash :punk:

The m90 is gonna be gonna be used for a run down the track to get a time slip then for a conversation piece at car shows :pepper:  .

Cool :punk: Should be a very fun stop light racer too with all that torque.

i seriously usually dont do a whole lot of bad things. I have a full body kit and dont like chipping it. I was wondering do you have your stock rear on the car?

I ahve a GT rear. I have a body kit and I race it sometimes. Chipping it only happens rarely when going in and out of driveways but never racing it...

We have the same front and sideskirts :beerchug:. I have the saleen 2000 rear now :). You need a diff rear ;)

You know what i actually don't like any aftermarket rear bumper that's out right now...If I had to choose on style it would be saleen but I have some issues with them

MjCorn23 12-27-2005 10:00 PM

I have the same thing I think that the aftermarket rears right now look like crap that is why I still have the stock V6 rear

Grimmz 12-28-2005 09:27 AM

If you want a nice sound without alota money and not having to worry about the rear bumper, my Spintech Side exhaust sounds great. as for LT's and mid pipe...#1 Mac is the only place i've seen LT's with shortie H-pipes for the V6's SLP might have something but they didn't list it in their cataloge They just send me. LT's will help give a deeper sound and a lil more hp on the top of the curve, but like Cuban said the H-pipe won't really do anything other then offer some sound advantages. If you really are going with a GT in the next year, suck it up save your money and throw it into a V8. If your not guna keep your 6, save up for the things you want on your V8...

MjCorn23 12-28-2005 09:11 PM

Grimmz is right Spintech makes the best sounding exhaust I have heard yet for a 6er. Not to mention I have never seen SLP headers for our cars. But if you are going with a V8 there is no need to do anything to the 6. That is why I have stopped modding my V6 because I am getting an 03 Cobra and want to save my cash for that.

yeah once the exhaust settles I'll post some vids, right now i'm scrambling to get the Stripes, ordered and put on and the Rear Tailight tint installed. I also gotta try and get it lowered Fri. so work on the car is going to be busy.

Not to beat a dead horse but don't throw money into your car unless your sure your keeping it. otherwise it'll be a huge waste twice over...resale depreciates and you loose the exhaust...I'm planning on keeping my car for a good while... One I finish my winter jobs I'll be saving up puttin on the new front end parts, C-pillars, some more bolt ons, and interior decorating, and then I'll be digging into the actual engine for some N/A hp and maybe some juice...I know it seems far fetched alota people say they're guna do this and that, but for me I know it'll take alota small steps before I get the car to where I want it...but it's something for me to work on while in college.

MjCorn23 12-30-2005 10:21 PM

There is nothing wrong with taking small steps. That is the way most of us got to where we are with our cars. I was saving for a year before I could get most of my mods. But when you do get everything you get to set there and enjoy the benefits. Not to mention it is so much sweeter when you had to wait for it and work for it.
