dual exhaust

hey, i've been looking at dual exhaust parts for some time now for my 2001 3.8l and i want some opinions from u guys. Are MAC long tube headers, an MAC high-flow catted h-pipe, and a Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system a good combo for performance and sound? if not, what do u recomend?

well if you live in a place where you dont need cats i would get them without cats. but otherwise that should make some good power and should sounds pretty good. i dont personly liek flowmaster but thats up to you.

I put a catted MT X-pipe and an SLP Power Flow catback on a 2001 V-6 and it sounded pretty good. I would have liked to have heard it with a LM-1 though.

Try to get some better stuff then MAC. And Flowmasters aren't know to be that great at...well flowing lol.

Unfortunatly no. JBA makes some really nice shortys but there is no point to them unless your pushing 300rwhp+. As far as H pipe goes you could use one meant for a GT and just modify to fit.

Bassani's are NICE but man they cost. I would go with a nice 2.5" GT set-up honestly and just mod it to fit. You will lose some torque because of the 2.5" piping but when/if you go supercharged you will have plenty of flow. But if you can find a GT take off system I would recommend you look very closely at that option. That's what I'm running and if you'd like you could just ditch the stock cats for hi-flows add some aftermarket mufflers and have a very nice set-up. Options are endless out there. Just as far as rules of thumb go: 2.5" if you plan on big mods, 2.25" still good for big mods but not as good, really good for just basic boltons and N/A applications.

I have the stock h-pipe and cat back with low miles off my 2004 GT if that's what you decide on. I was planing on keeping it in case I ever manage to mess up my SLP pipes but they're just taking up space in the garage now so if you're interested I would accept a reasonable offer. I'm in the southeast PA area fyi.
