Odd sound

I bought a 2000 V6 5 speed about 4 months ago, its got 48000 miles and a while back i noticed that when the engine is under some load, such as going uphill, it makes a sort of intermittent ticking/hissing sound. Its hard to describe, its like a series of very short hisses while the car is still under load.

It kind of reminds me of riding in my grandfathers old 1940's truck. Anyways does this sound like a normal thing?

Does it kinda sound like a paint can rattling? If so then it's detination...And that's no bueno...

Hmm no, no rattling...its kind of a pss-pss-pss-pss sound if you get what i mean..

Its much more audible from the drivers seat than from the passenger side also it seems.

The only time ive heard it is when going up a steep hill or a couple times when i was going a bit too slow for the gear i was in.

what is detination? I had a 99v6 and when I would go up hill I would get that paint can rattling sound. Had it checked out, though, and apparently there was no problem. It's history now, but always bugged the heck out of me.

Well it comes from a bad air/fuel ratio. You can run rich, too much fuel. Or lean, too little fuel. Both will cause this problem. It sucks ass lol and over time can damage the engine...

Just a followup, i started using higher octane fuel and the sound is gone.

However i have a new unrelated problem, i have the mach 460 system and my CD got stuck inside the cd drive.. is there any way to manually eject it?
