Clutch problems.
 

I am having a issue with my clutch engaging with my V6 3.8 mustang. The clutch was replaced seven months ago. After putting in a POS shortshifter which broke 2 months after installing it. I have bought a B&M shifter and now my car will only shift into gear when the engine is NOT running. I have read that perhaps my pressure plate or my clutch disc is not working properly.

Figured I would update my thread even though I haven't received any responses. I had my car towed back to the shop that replaced my clutch. The shop couldn't get it into the bay due to the volume of work they had on friday until 4pm. I should know something tomorrow and will post what the cause was and the solution is so that others that might be having the same issue will have an idea where to start.

Hey, I bought a car one year back and it is now having some problems. Its clutch is actually not working properly. If you could just tell me the information about where I could take it and get it repaired.

Hey Will, Is your car having the same issue as mine? I received word from my mechanic that the Clutch needs to be replaced again and aside from a clutch kit i have had to buy a new flywheel and clutch cable. They aren't going to charge me for the labor though. This battle between myself and the shop isn't over because they are trying to tell me that it's been two yrs since they replaced my clutch and I know that's BS. Anyhow i have bought the new kit and flywhell and cable. I lost my receipt from them but I will be making them print out a new receipt to prove to me it was more than yr ago that they replaced it. You asked whom to take yours to? Well I'm not sure where your located but I'm in Austin. The name of the shop is Reithmeyers auto repair. I would normally recommend them to anyone but after my going round with them today. I will probably be changing repair shops if they dont come up with a better deal than just not charging me for the labor.

The least expensive thing to check is your clutch cable. If im not mistaken ford used cables instead of hydraulic clutches in the 94-04 models. If that doesn't fix the problem and the car grinds gears consistently it could be a synchronizer, but if it wont go into any gears at all, the clutch isnt disengaging. Beyond this point I really can't help you, as I havent worked on many 5speed transmissions. Lot's of shops will try to fool you and the simple fix could possibly be a clutch cable.

Yea Krenogin. Well the clutch was close to 2 yrs old but according to the copy of the receipt I was given today from the first clutch replacement. They charged me for turning the flywheel. So if they turned the flywheel and installed a new clutch kit the clutch went out in less than 30k miles. Well now I have already bought all the new parts for them to replace it again labor free. I have had a friend turn me onto a new mechanic that I will most likely be taking my vehicles to from now on. I'm just waiting for them to finish before I really go off on them. As far as I'm concerned something on the original clutch replacement wasn't done correctly. I have never seen a clutch on a car that was driven moderately go out in 20k miles. Well like i said they have everything new now so there shouldn't be a problem. Other than trusting someone that I have never taken my vehicles to for repair. Kinda depressing when a shop you have gone to for over 30 yrs and was always a good experience goes bad. They weren't any cheaper than the next guy but i could always know that I was getting what I paid for. P.S. Like your Stang!!

Thanks dude! Also yea 20k miles is BS. My 99 s10 has nearly 180k miles on the original clutch.
