2nd gear kick
My 01 V6 auto has a nocticable KICK and by kick i mean jerk, from 1st gear to 2nd...... no other gear has that im and i'm wondering if its just the power band and thats where i have the most balls or its my transmission thats out of whack. Any V6 guys with the same problem?
normal for an auto
no no i dont think you understand the amount of jerk it is..... its abnormal, think its transmission fluid?
its so hard to tell over the internet it could be a few thing sor it could be normal. kinda hard ot tell without seeing it. you could check the fluide it should be redish and not smell burnt kinda like burnt rubberish if it does smell like rubber you need to change it out.
are you high up in your RPMs when you notice this or is it normal driving conditions?
Come on now i was born at night not last night of course the car will jerk at high RPMs, it is at 2,000 RPMs, when it is apperant. and only from first to second.

hey man, chill out a lil. everyone is just tryin to help you. and it wouldnt hurt to change the fluid just to be safe.

is our ac on when this happens?
it happens whether or not its on/off.
did you buy it new or used? it may be a shift kit
same happens to me
hey man, same thing happens to me during shifts between 1st and 2nd, andon occasion between 2nd and 3rd, i find this happens most when i go hard on the gas, the heigher rpm shifts seem to force a kick in the transmission somewhere, i also find this when i do some "manumatic" shifting, you know, manually shifting from 1st to second and then into drive, which is normally the setting you put the car into when your just driving along...the problem may be happening when the higher rpm's caue part of the transmission to be moving faster than the rest, when they connect, the fastr piece slows down really quickly, causing that kick...the reason is simple, if the whole car is moving slower than the transmission , the whole car is going to force the faster part to slowdown, the car is simply too heavy for the transmission to get moving the same speed all at once....at least thats how it was described to me...if i'm wrong and anyone knows the real reason...feel free to tell me...

becuase of the rpms, you your engine is spinning at 5000rpms, then you shift into second gear, which drops to about 3000 rpms and your still at WOT, your getting back into the V6 powerband and thats where you get your jolt from.
i though he said it did it in low rpm's and high
that was in response to phantom1313's post.
k my bad it sounds like a shift kit
I'll look in to a shift kit, where would they sell and install that? Ford dearlership? How much would it run around?
