Front Lower Control Arms WTF!?

So, I have a 2007 v6 Mustang.. and my balljoints wore out. I did my homework and in order to replace the balljoint, it requires you to replace the entire control arm. I went out today to install them and wow did I run into problems. The bolts are so tight that I can't get them off even with a compressor or my strongest torque wrench. Has anyone ever replaced these? I'm thinking of just paying this place the $160 they quoted me and letting them deal with it.

Thanks!

you are using a torque wrench to REMOVE bolts?? Might as well throw that torque wrench away and get a new one.

you tried, time to pay a pro if you are tired of messing with it.

the bolts are on with like 120lbs of tq. Takes a breaker bar and a cheater or just an impact gun most times. You need your tq wrench recalibrated now in all probability.

I'd go ahead and pay the guy.

On a different note, what the hell are you doing that your ball joints wore out in 3 years? If your car is lowered so far that they're at a distinct angle and you're running shitloads of excess camber you need other parts to fix that. Please post a pic of your car at ride height from side and from front (as low to the ground as you can get on the frontal shot)

I have to be the third.

But as Zig stated, if you're tired of it time to give it to a pro.

Torque wrench = tightening

Breaker bar = loosening

I went ahead and took it to my mechanic. They used a massive impact wrench that made mine look like a piece of #@$@ and he took it off like it was nothing. My car is not lowered at all and I haven't altered anything suspension wise. I think it was out of alignment though for a while and I didn't notice it and that may have caused it. Other than that.. I'm not sure why they wen't out so soon.

Yeah they're definitely a pain in the ass to install if you don't have a lift. Trying to do it with a jack and jack stands just doesn't really work out to well.
