CEL

so the last two times i've gotten gas my check engine light has come on. I dont know what this could be. could it be air in the gas tank? fuel filters shot? i dont have a tuner to pull the code so i may have to go to autozone, but its only on when ive gotten gas and then it will go off the next day, so if anyone has experienced this please help me out, im just being a little cautious lol.

probiker427 11-30-2009 06:17 PM

anybody? my thread got hidden a little lol

whats the milage to your car?

I changed my Fuel Pump Assembly at 50k milage. Could be your Fuel Pump.. Just a thought.
Might wana just check that. Im not saying it is your pump but just check it..

Also check the Fuel Pressure.

spike_africa 11-30-2009 06:19 PM

I would get the code first then figure out whats going on. No point in playing the guessing game yet.

probiker427 11-30-2009 06:19 PM

its a 99 but its only about 24,000miles

WOTStang205 11-30-2009 06:22 PM

I agree with Spike.. get a Tuner n find out the code. =)

I just ordered me one from AM.. Waitin for it to come in the mail. I got this:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/sct-x3...ash-tuner.html

Price aint that bad, I think its really good for what it does.

probiker427 11-30-2009 06:24 PM

yeah im gunna get one after the holidays from vmptuning.com, but for now ill go to autozone and see whats up

WOTStang205 11-30-2009 08:05 PM

lol I know its off the thread but I was wondering how your Magnaflow Exhaust sounds? is it quiet at idle?

probiker427 11-30-2009 08:43 PM

its alright i mean its direct fit to the y-pipe so its not anything special but for now its not too bad, idle is pretty quiet unless ur real close

Dave04Mustang 11-30-2009 09:44 PM

Could be something as simple as the gas cap

probiker427 12-01-2009 07:21 AM

yeah i went this morning after class and they said its the o2 sensors, my cars a 99 so i guess it makes sense

probiker427 12-01-2009 12:53 PM

should i go ahead and replace them?

probiker427 12-01-2009 04:32 PM

do i have to get both o2 sensors for the front and rear or would the extension kit from AM work? http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-o2...harnesses.html

WOTStang205 12-01-2009 07:19 PM

Basically on my Exhaust im running true Dual exhaust X pipe w/o Cats.

I bought the 2 front O2 sensors from AM and retained the stock rear O2 just to plug the hole on the Xpipe. I do have the CEL on but hasnt given me any problems car runs just fine. So when my turner comes in its gonna eliminate CEL.

spike_africa 12-01-2009 07:21 PM

So what codes came up?

probiker427 12-01-2009 07:23 PM

he knew what the code was i didnt write down which actual code it was but thats what he said it was

spike_africa 12-01-2009 07:38 PM

So it could of been anything such as lack of airflow, heater circuit problem, lean on bank 1 or 2 etc.... You need the code to actually figure out whats wrong instead of tossing parts at the car. Fucking Autozone.

probiker427 12-02-2009 09:58 AM

should i go back and ask for the actual code then?

probiker427 12-02-2009 06:47 PM

is it bad to continue driving my car with not knowing the problem with it? i mean it doesnt really feel different but its also my daily driver so not sure what to do..

WOTStang205 12-02-2009 08:30 PM

ive been driving mine since i got my exhaust swapped out.. nothing has happened.

probiker427 12-03-2009 06:45 PM

yeah like today it hasn't been on once it's so weird.
