Procharged V6 or Stock Gt??
 

I have saved enough money to either get me a new car.should i go for a 07 procharged v6 or a 07 stock gt? It doesnt have to be a 2007 mustang im just refering to the newer looking bodies.
What are the ups and downs to these 2?

I would go with the V8 because you have the power without the drag on the motor you also have a 8.8 rear with an LSD. If you go the charged v6 way you will have to get that taken car of or 1 peg-leg like a muther f****r the GT offers more potential later on down the road as well when you feel that 300 horses aren't quite enough.

The v6 would get better gas mileage stock but not with the procharger

Hmm thats true,i can always get the gt and if thats not enough power ill supercharge it.

That's what I'm saying with a v6 if you push boost on it you are going to need to upgrade the rear end, the suspension and lots of other misc. crap all the while you are shortening the life of the motor (just a fact of boost on stock internals) I'm not totally sure but I think that a 05+ bolt on and tuned GT will take a procharged v6

Vortech on the v6 I will continue to say is 2000000x better then the procharger.

With that being said, currently a friend of mine has a vortech, has had it on his STOCK 06 v6 for 3 years and no issues, aside from damage he had done himself.

Stock rear end, suspension, 20s, and a vortech at low boost popped off a 13.2.

Currently, with a forged bottom end, 15psi, slicks, a posi and gears on the STOCK rear end, he's seen low 11s. (Forged the bottom end about 3 months ago)

Guys have taken the 7.5 rear end into the 10s and not had issues. Is it common? No.

Bolt on tuned 05 GT's here will run a 13.2, with a good tire, and some suspension.

The new 4.0 is a much better engine then the 3.8, all around. Its much easier to obtain amazing track times and more power.

I'm gonna go with the tried and true old adage... "There's no replacement for displacement" Go with the GT

Yeah just get the GT. If i had the choice to supercharge my car, or get a V8, i would go V8. You will probably like the GT alot more, theres no beating the sound of a V8 exhaust.

u may make alot more power with the v6 but i would reccomend getting the stock gt. all u have to do with a GT is put a cold air intake on it to make it growl and a full exhaust system and everyones like MAN THATS BAD ASS regardless if its fast or not.

Too bad that car has over 100k in mods to even get anywhere near that time.

Look at it this way man. The bigger the motor the more power its going to make after boost. Take a v6 procharged and a GT procharged and the GT will come out better every time. In the corners, in life expectancy, and on the drag strip.

That's actually wrong the v6 is lighter and and that helps alot. Add a juckyard sway bar and it will out corner a GT if you assume they are running on the same wheels and tires.

I used to beat modded GTs in autocross with my v6 and it was his 03 vs my 98 both suspensions were modded to about the same extent and he had more rubber on the ground.

If you're planning on leaving the GT stock, then buy the v6. Otherwise go with the GT.

GTs are built as a more race/street prepped car than V6s for sure. Suspension, rear-end, power, bigger tires from factory usually, and the torque from the power helps pulling out of the corners.

I use to get spanked by 99-04 GTs in my SVT Focus, but yet I could easily pull on V6s. Even the newer 05+ v6s.

I beat the same guy in an SM GT every time he showed up and a guy I know could race in a stock 03 mach 1 every time we had a tight course. Not a lucky break

Since I had a hell of a post for this, and this forum is now a peice of shit and didn't even ackowledge it I'm going to simply do this:

1. Youtube "Vortech 4.0 v6" you'll find a rep from vortech standing next to a v6 mustang that just ran a 10.88 on what? A stock motor. yes, has not been pulled out.

2. Youtube "8 second street supra" and tell me what you find.

3. Youtube "4 cylinder mustang turbo"

Now, I'm going to say this, turbos and superchargers are sure as hell making a good effort at replacing displacement. Even a v8 mustang, is considered a small v8.

Guys are pushing 6 cylinder, and 4 cylinder cars into the same places that large v8 motors are at.

So, if you had the choice of a 600+ cubic inch motor that ran 8s, or a small, 308 running 7s, which would you take? But REMEMBER theres no replacement for displacement.

As far as that little civic needing 100k to hit the 6s.. once you get that fast, you'd better have a shitload of cash, the frame is no longer stock, the roll cage is insane, the body, chutes, everything on any car at that point is going to need a shitload of money.

Another thing about road racing: you need a good DRIVER for that. Drag race, yea you'll need a driver, but it isn't like having to go from hauling ass, down to taking a corner and back to hauling ass quickly.

If the guy can't drive the car in a road course, hes going to lose.

+1 cant argue with him there, if your gonna go fast, either way your gonna be out assloads of money.

If I had to choose and the v6 was already Procharged and I am gonna take a wild guess and say like 95% of people you will never supercharge your car on your own, I would rock the v6 and add some more performance mods to it. Power+MPG hell yeah!

And like most supercharged cars where you added the supercharger onto the car, if you stay out of boost and cruise like normal they actually get better mpg then stock most of the time because of how much more power they are making even at crusing speed.

GT + nitrous > V6 with procharger IMO

Coming from a guy who has a V6, but with no major power adds. I would say the GT because it has more potential IF you plan on modding it at all. However if you dont plan on making it much faster go for V6. Also dam you bako, now i really wish i had money for a turbo...

I doubt you will supercharge the GT once you bought it...I would go with the procharged v6 and keep modding.

How about this. Drive both cars and see which one makes you the happiest. I guarantee if you bought the GT, you will not supercharge it for a long time. Chances are you are like the rest of us and can't spend ass loads of money on modding. I had my car a little over 4 years before I got to put on a supercharger and I got lucky with that one.

Drive both and see what you like best. Simple as that.

So is the drivers face of the V6 who thought he was going to take the V8, but didn't realize the V8 was supercharged as well. We could go back and forth with this.
