exhaust or gears opinions?

all i have on my mustang right now is a CAI, i want to get 4.10 gears and an exhaust, which should i go for first, i want true dual exhaust what kind of set up should i go with?

Stanger Banger 11-01-2009 01:50 PM

well im assuming its a v6 by saying you want true duals so this is where i tell you to go to an exhaust shop tell them you want to make it a H they'll custom make it for cheap making it your true dual then go buy some flow master 40's or 44's (im a fan of pypes street pros but thats just me) and ask if they would make it a cat back with either polished tips or down bent tips. I have both the gears and the exhaust its more of personal opinion but id go with the exhaust then get your 4.10's also you should purchase a T-lok it'll be a great improvment with the new gears but with the gears you'll need to buy a tuner so really depends how much u wanan spend gears/ t-lok tuner cost me 800 together with instalation, exhaust cost 414 including installation

- but if you want more performance gears t-lok and tuner first then exhaust if not do other way around

spike_africa 11-01-2009 04:51 PM

exhaust is for sound mostly, don't expect a ton of power from it. Gears and posi with a tuner will actually make the car quicker.

yes it is a V6, which of the flowmasters would you recomend from am, theres two different 40's and they also have the 44, i want a bad ass muscle car sound, which do you think would give me the best sound?

man my buddy just got his 02 v6 sounding amazing with a full exhaust setup, he has mac long tubes with mac shorty o/r H-pipe followed by flowmaster 40 cat back, it sounds like a muscle car now haha and got a decent amout of power added

court 11-01-2009 09:42 PM

whats the difference between the flowmaster original 40's and the flowmaster delta flow 40's

I don't think there's too much difference between them as far as sound level and tone are concerned.

im sure he spent a shit load of money too lol money will do that

I don't like flowmasters, personally. And you'll never achieve the "bad ass muscle car sound" with a v6..

If you want loud ect I guess you could go with that.

I like magnaflows or borlas better though..

I'd grab a set of gears/posi and a tuner though... but it all depends on how much cash you've got.

Stanger Banger 11-02-2009 11:54 AM

if i was you id go with Pypes street pros with your v6 =)

01 RED GT 11-02-2009 01:27 PM

depends on what you consider expensive i mean yeah it cost money to make these cars bad ass haha but we are both college students and save up, his exhaust on his 02 v6 cost $250 for the headers, $160 for the o/r H, and $285 for the flows and tips, then we did the install ourselves which takes some time but saved a ton on labor, but im very impressed with the sound of it from a v6, mine is 01 GT and ive got a mac o/r H with magnaflow catback and i love my magnaflows

Stanger Banger 11-02-2009 03:08 PM

doing your own labor fights half the battle lol

court 11-02-2009 04:14 PM

would magnaflows make a 6 sound crappy or will the make it sound pretty good?

court 11-02-2009 04:16 PM

can you get a t-lok and use it with your stock gears and then get 4.10's later? i'm tired of this only one wheel spinning crap

spike_africa 11-02-2009 04:34 PM

There is no point in paying for a gear install two times, which is what would happen if you did that court.

And the delta flows are supposed to be quieter then the regular flowmaster, but they still drone. I am not a fan of flowmasters at all.

court 11-02-2009 09:02 PM

what about magnaflows?

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 11-03-2009 04:49 AM

Dustin's right. The delta series flows are quieter. If you absolutely MUST go with Flowmasters, and you want loud, the Super 44's are the way to go. I had them on my car for a while, but recently switched to Pypes Violators. I'll never go back to Flowmasters. As for which way to go first, again they're right. If you're wanting a noticeable power, seat-of-the-pants difference, go with gears and a tuner first.

Stanger Banger 11-03-2009 07:07 AM

yeah there is no point in paying for them to do the gears then the t-lok that installation can get pricey

and the violators are fucking load.... lol
