Change to 5sp transmission possible?

Is there ALOT you have to do to the engine to go from automatic to standard. I know some guys that can change a transmission but i haven't talked to them yet. How much would a garage charge to switch the transmisiion plus all the clutch work as well i have a 5spd mustang that was junked because of a collision but runs fine so i have all the parts needed.

The only things to do to the engine are install a pilot bushing/bearing and bolt the manual flywheel in place of the automatic's flexplate. Might as well replace the clutch now and save yourself work later.

You need the clutch/brake pedal assembly from the donor car, tranny, flywheel, tranny wiring harness, shifter, shifter bezel, driveshaft (im pretty sure auto is different yoke then manual), and other little pieces which I'm sure I forgot. Its not hard to do this just takes some time to get it all in and done. A shop is going to charge you a good amount for this swap. I would not be surprized if you are quoted around $800 just in labor for the work.

I think if I remember correctly, stephen got quoted at $700 just for labor. Parts add up to about $1200.

what year is your car? what year is the junker and what kind of engine is in it??? hell dude, just go for broke, take out the engine and tranny and build it up. do a 4.1L stroker, refurbuish the tranny, etc and then drop it into the car.
