4.10s or 3.73s

i have a 98 3.8l with BBK CAI and BBK TB and want to add new gears plus posi. I NEED OPINIONS ON WHEITHER 4.10 GEARS OR 3.73 GEARS ON MY SIXER. i heard some say 4.10s would be better for a gt and 3.73s for a v6.im not sure though.

Dave04Mustang 07-13-2008 09:04 PM

auto or manual? Some people say 4.10 for auto 3.73 for manual but 4.10 will make you happy. Don't fear the gear

INtZ 07-13-2008 09:10 PM

i've been asking myself the same question for like a week and i think im gonna go with 4.10s in my 02 auto v6

Mr. Zip 07-13-2008 09:12 PM

4.10.
'Don't fear the gear.'

98 STANG 07-13-2008 09:19 PM

yea thanx ima go with 4.10s

engineman312 07-14-2008 05:30 AM

3.73s for manual, 4.10s for an auto. and if u plan on going F/I, stick with 3.73s

juancarlos91 07-14-2008 08:24 AM

mines a 5spd...what would be the difference if i put 4.10's or 3.73's?

Steeda97 07-14-2008 09:15 AM

How quick can you shift? :-P

you go through the revolutions a little quicker, and you pretty much no longer have 1st gear.

juancarlos91 07-14-2008 10:41 AM

for which ones 4.10 or 3.73s?

with the 4.10s you would be shifting considerably faster under WOT...you would still have plenty of 1st gear uner normal driving conditions and it would just appear a lot shorter under WOT as you would be reving through the rpm range/accelerating faster than 3.73's or the stock gears. As said before "dont fear thge gear," the only reason to get a smaller (3.73) gear is if you have future apirations to have a large power adder and put some serious numbers down. That all being said, get a set of 4.10s n they'll bring a smile to your face the first time you jump on it after the 500 mile break in period.

500 mile break in period is a myth!

sweet...so gears and a t-lock is a good combination right? what t lock and 4.10 gears are good for my stang?

and uh are 4.10 good for daily drivers?

Steeda97 07-14-2008 12:41 PM

FRPP 4.10's, and whatever traction lok is on stangmods.com. I'm not sure if AM sells it.

How often do you go on the highway?

juancarlos91 07-14-2008 01:03 PM

all i use to get anywhere is highways...whenever im going anywhere, about 85% of the driving is done on a highway. whats frpp?

stanger00 07-14-2008 01:15 PM

FRPP is ford racing

4.10s wont hurt your mileage too much. if i baby my car i can get 20 mpg which is pretty good for a auto GT with gears and 42# fuel injectors.

Steeda97 07-14-2008 01:56 PM

Why do you have 42# injectors? Are you spraying?
