How many mpg are you getting?
I have an 03 3.8 5sp V6 and im getting really bad mileage. Probably around 16-18 per gallon. Is this normal?
yeah sadly thats about right
Damn, then what do GTs usually get? Ive read most GTs get around 17 or 18. Im planning on getting one soon.
dude im get 23mpg around town about 28 on the high way.
its rated at 20mpg city and whatever they rate it at is usually grandma driving so usually you never get the estimated. From what I've seen there are quite a few people getting better MPG on a GT than a v6 lol. The most I've seen are about the same though. GT is rated at 17 city
cool thanks. I usually drive kinda fast so that might be why. But I also discovered a crack in the radiator coolant tank and when i checked it there wasnt much water in there. I know engines lose a lot of power when theyre too hot.
my driving is 90% highway and ive been getting ~20mpg lately. that's the reason the mustang will be leaving my driveway in the coming months.
im all most all city driving and i get 19 or better. and that is with kinda a lead foot.
In my '98 sixxer I got about 17-18 at the most. Power to weight ratio works in favor of the GT, not the 6.
I just yesterday got 28mpg on the highway(75-80mph avg and cruise control). In town I get between 18-21mpg.
12
200
I get 200 miles per full 13 gallon fill up on my 2k v6 or just simply 50 miles per quarter of a tank!!!! :o(
that's city driving in miami fl where is hot as hell 24x7!!!! |
ive been getting 80mpg for every 1/4 tank in my V6 by keeping the RPMs as close to 2000 during all of my driving aka granny driving.
me 15mpg in city and 20mph on the highway
I've got...264 miles on the tank i'm on right now.. and i've still got about a quarter tank.
Oh ya, its all been highway..and its about 100 out here ;x |
OMG you guys that is not anywhere close to normal.
i get 17mpg and 22mpg highway in mine now. you guys should be getting mid 20's without a problem. also don't forget that the government has ethenol in some gas at certain gas stations. that will lower gas mileage no matter what they say. They now have to post if they have it in their gas or not. be careful. or get your car tuned or a better tune. these cars are rated for 22city/27highway.. |
I get about 22 in 80/20 city/hwy driving. Not bad.
Funny thing is that the first quarter tank the needle moves a lot slower than during the last quarter tank. Is this normal? |
I average about 24 now

I reset the trip every time I fill up and then the next time I fill up I take the miles I've gone on that tank and divide it buy the number of gallons I need to fill it back up.
i get from anywhere to 15 - 25 25 more of highway without excessive speeding
12mpg in my '95 straight six F-150!
