HIGH RPMs

hey guys just had a quick question. the other day i started my car and drove down the road, when i came to the stop sign i pushed my brake and pushed my clutch in and came to a stop. i noticed that when i was at a complete stop my rpms were still up at like 2 or 2 and a half. normaly when im just sitting there my rpms are just below 1 and the car sounds like its idle is normal. this has only happened like twice can anyone tell me if its ok or if thats bad? thanx in advance.

Check you IAC, take it off and clean it. Do a search and you can find out all the details. May not be your problem but a good place to start and it's a free fix.

i probly sound stupid but whats that exactly hahaha i dont have much experiance under the hood  should i just bring it to a shop

No don't take it to a shop. The IAC is the thing on the back side of the TB kinda. Like I said, do a search and read about it. You can learn alot just by doing a seach on the boards or even Google. It's two bolts, a electrical clip, and you can clean it with brake cleaner, very simple. There are alot of threads about problems with IAC's

the IAC is the thing that is on the left back part of the upper intake at the very back of the engine bay on the top.(facing tha car)

that is prolly it if you havent had this problem previously.

also check for vacuum leaks... you'll usually hear it as a whistle that seems out of place.
