Default Induction Problems!! Please Help!!

I bought a BBK induction kit for my 2007 V6 Stang followed all the instruction and even used a higher grade of gas. But for some reason I keep getting the check engine light. I called BBK to see if they can help me. They told me that I might have use the updated pipes. So they sent me a new one free of charge. But when it came it was the same pipe!! So of course I still get the light. So my question is does anyone have the same problems. If so did you find a way to solve it. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!!

Did you try disconnecting the negative battery cable? That will reset the computer, and might get rid of the light. That's the best advice I've got, and I'm sure you'll get better. :]

no the light goes off when you get a tune. Who did you buy it from most places tell you this before you buy the intakes. The pre 05 stangs didn't need it because the computer wasn't as picky but with the newer stangs little things set off the computer

So I can still have the kit on and later get the tune. I was hoping to do a few things before I did the tune.

BBK told me that even the newer stangs will not need any kind of tune with their kits.

alright well I don't know what to tell you then. I guess make sure everything is tightly fastened but it has nothing to do with the gas your putting in. If you take it to a place like autozone they can scan the code for you to find out what the error is. If this just happened after you installed the intake though and BBK says you don't need a tune then I would have to say its not fastened all the way and check the MAF hopefully you didn't touch the wire

I did take it to Auto Zone and did the scan. They told me that the fuel was to lean. To get injector cleaners and to put higher grade gas.

I put the stock intake back to see if it was in fact the MAF. No light!!! So that is when I posted this thread to see if it was an installation error on my part.

I still think its weird bbk says no tune because the code just supports that it needs one. There is more air being taken in than the computer thinks is reasonable so it throws the running lean. If the autozone guys told you to put in a higher grade of gas don't listen to them that guy most have been on another world. Only put the octane that the car is rated so a V6 should have standard 87, only put premium in the car if its tuned for premium

Thank you Dave04Mustang I just might need to do the tune. But will the car be fine if I put the kit back on and not do the tune.

Do I need to buy a tuner or is there a place that can do it for you.

The computers in mustangs after 2005 are much more sensitive. What is happening is your computer is sensing that there is more airflow into the intake via your MAF. The pre 2005 mustang computers also sense this and adjust to keep the air-fuel ratio in an acceptable range. The 2005 and up computers do not make the same adjustment. The autozone diagnostic was 100% right because you have more air but not more gas so your 02 sensors are reading a leaner mixture. Regardless of what BBK says you need a tune or the car just wont run right. Also, cleaning the injectors is never a bad idea but you don't need new ones. Even though it may appear to be ok driving the car with the intake on and a lean mixture may in fact hurt the car. Just piggy-backing on what Dave04Mustang said, only run the gas that the care is rated for without a tune. It may not be noticeable but by running a higher octane, the engine may actually ping and in some cases, misfire. This can be very damaging to the car and with no performance gains, a HUGE waste of money at the pump. Funny how the guy at Autozone completely missed that whole thing though. I think that if you want a job there, you need to pass a test on how a car works.
