Thanks in advance
![]() Well after a week of deciding whether to go with New Rims or a New Exhaust I'm going to go with a new Exhaust for the Stang. I've read and used the search button on the exhaust questions but I'm still a little mixed up. Option #1: If I go with the Standard Y-pipe all I need is just a Catback Exhaust System or anything else? Option #2: True Duals? This is the H-pipe/ X-pipe? Do I need the Adapter kit as well? Also can I use any dual exhaust made for v6? My Spending is limit is no more than hopefully $700 with install Examples of your setup would help alot. Also, In the future I would also like to add a GT Bumper to the v6 what impact does this have. Or is it best to the Bumper and Exhaust all at once not having to deal with the after effects.

Option 2: True duals is having 2 separate pipes go from the headers to each separate muffler. If you want to add a midpipe (usually just sound wise H is deeper than an X and dont use an X on a v6). So after you get the stock catback removed and the stock Y pipe is removed, then you can either run straight pipes or use an H pipe (made for a V6 or custom made) and then any GT catback. You can put a GT bumper on either when u do the exhaust or after. If you do it after you will have to get your exhaust tips realigned (raised). This was kind of a brief description because this is discussed in detail in many other threads. Stick with companies like: magnaflow, mac, and flowmaster. Youtube will give you an idea of what different setups will sound like |

I say you go true dual witha custom H pipe. Mine ended up costing $545 which included parts and labor.

true some of the smaller companies are good as well. Basically just stay far far away from Pypes.
Also forgot to answer your question about the adapter. The adapter is only needed if you want to keep your stock Y pipe. If you went that route the adapter attaches to the stock Y pipe and then any GT catback attaches to it. |

Also the guy at the shop said I should get the GT bumper before the Exhaust so it will be easier, but I don't know yet about the bumper it will be nice but I only got the money for exhaust right now

470 is a good deal with every thing. just leave the v6 bumper for now till you have the money for the GT bumper.

I was also wondering is it better to go with 2.25 or 2.5 the guy at the shop said 2.25?
I want it the exhaust tips to look good so I'm going with Chrome but I don't want them to hang down I want it to appear the pipes are going straight out that shouldn't be problem or should it?

Im gonna get http://www.stangmods.com/MAC-Cat-Bac...475-tk3849.htm with probally the tax stimulus thingy .. if/when I get it. Its not true dual but whatever.
I will just get a V8 GT next car and not have to worry about upgrading exhaust. Dont want to put too much money into a 42kmi used car. Dont get me wrong it runs fuckin super and is clean as a bitch but still. |
