it all depends on what you wana spend and what you want out of them. so what do you want, more power, sound, looks, are you planing on uprading to a new egsost?

Redrum 02-13-2008 05:49 PM

well more power i have a exhaust with flowmaster

officer4c13 02-13-2008 05:55 PM

go to summit.com or jegs.com and look at what will fit your car, and what will fit your wallet. i would go with a full length header from hooker.

Redrum 02-13-2008 06:00 PM

ok i will check them out thx for help

i have no idea but are the stock ones short or long and when you replace them to put on a new exuast system which are better?

da2k17 02-13-2008 07:20 PM

stock headers are short and its hard to say which are better for you because they do diffierent things so it depends on what your lookin for

Cheddarbob 02-14-2008 03:59 PM

let me say this if all it is is a leak then dont waste your money on new headers just have it fixed.

Why buy new headers. they are going to cost you around 400 or more then you have to have them installed which is at least 300 so IMO pay the 150 and fix it.

600 buck for 4 hp no thanks

Problem I have heard with some of the 00-04 v6's is that the headers have a flaw (normally passenger side) and will actually wear away so badly it'll break.

Breaking = exhaust dragging

Something about how the welds were done. I dunno, my buddies had that.

Mine was apparently getting to that point, and they said it would be better to just replace them. So I did. Went with headmans...and since i can't pass smog with long tubes, I had to go with the shorties :(

go with short tube headers. the long tube headers requiere the 3.8 engine to be lifter a little i believe.

dOcV6 02-15-2008 12:52 PM

is it possible to get a true dual exaust with shortys?

r3dn3ck 02-15-2008 02:53 PM

have you considered just tightening the nuts on the manifold. THat's probably how it started leaking cuz ain't no shop in the WORLD gunna pull and replace mustang headers for 100 bucks. It's a several hour long job in the best of cases.
