I have the flowmasters, now what?
Hey guys i dont know a lot about exhausts. I have an 05 v6 mustang. I bought the flowmaster american thunder dual mufflers and the guy at midas said i need a kit to connect the Y-pipe(cut after cats) and mufflers. I wanted an H-pipe but he said its not going to do anything. He says flowmaster and MAC sell the kits but I cant find it anywhere. The only ones ive seen include mufflers, which i dont need. Any advice or direction on where to look would be appreciated. Thanks

yeah ... v6's dont need a crossover so i have basically no mid pipe... just goes straight from the cats back to the mufflers and it sounds pretty good ... ive got flows too i think youll be happy with the sound

ok, so you think it would be better to get him to custom do it like i originally believed. Midas was charging around $400 for the job. Im tryin to keep it at 300 or under. Maybe a smaller shop will have a better price, i just hope the work is as good.

go to a custom exhaust shop, they do the best work and can fabricate almost anything you want.
my system cost me 722. thats b/c of the mufflers i picked out are special.

Very true, it took me a while, but i found a place in FL that has EVERY MAC product available. I have to find the link but if i can find it i will throw it in here for you.

Ok yea that would be helpful. Ive only seen a midpipe with mufflers though, and since i have the flowmasters already i dont need them. Is there anyway to get this kit without mufflers included? If not ill have to just go custom or switch mufflers(which i dont really want to do).

cats are not mufflers
and mufflers are not cats

Maybe im wrong...I thought the catalyic converters are more towards the front of the car and I would be keeping my stock ones on the car. I figured the mufflers were the flowmasters i got, that go under the bumper. What part is it that i need?

but the way your saying it in the above comments doesn't make sense.
ok this is what you do.
go to a custom exhaust shop and tell them i just need a dual exhaust system w/ an h pipe and show them the mufflers and bam they can do that easy.

where do you live. Do you have any performance shops around you like JBA, VPM, JDM etc?
#19
go ask them for a quote

A v6 doesnt need an x pipe b/c of even firing. But an H pipe is good.

Yea ive wanted H the whole way. This is just getting so tiresome trying to find a place. Mufflerex said it would cost around 550-690, which is a joke. Im going to make an appointment for this place Precision exhaust & brake and the local Meineke for when Im back home from college saturday morning. If i can find a place that charges around $330 or less, ill be happy.

Yea i understand but Im not going to be able to Do it myself. Even though i wouldnt like to go back, i can get it done at Midas for around $350, so that will be my last resort. If the cost is still way up, I may just forget about the Hpipe and do what HTOWNV6 did for around $250(if i can get that)

you dont want a crappy job.
like i said my system was 722 bucks its top notch.
2. dont go to Precision or to Mineke = bad job
IMO if your going to do this just sell your mufflers bite the bullet and buy one of theses and have those shops do it.
