Honestly, do not try to make the car a high-horsepower 6....If you wanted a car that would run, you would have bought a new 05 GT, or an end of the year close out 04 GT for the same price as your 05 V6...(both new).
I have had 2 V6 Mustangs, and it was more of a headache to get the car to 'try' to be as fast as a GT, it never sounded as good, and the parts will not be available for the V6 until mid-summer or fall next year for basics like CAI, pulleys, etc.... You bought a mustang for a reason, so enjoy it the way it is! Add some nice wheels, body kit, etc, because you will never be satisfied with the horsepower, and will always want a higher horsepower car...The V6 block does can not hold the horsepower that the V8 block can hold...unless you POUR the money into it....

Congrats on buying the best V-6 Mustang ever made. Hey, that car has as much power as many of the V-8's did in the past.
To address some of the other comments here: While I basically agree with them, we have to be careful because you could apply the same notion to those of us who own GT's and try to make them as fast as a snake. Rather then dumping $6k into a blower for a GT, the smart thing would be to buy a snake with one on it already. But, despite this logic we waste money anyway because we like to fiddle and make the car OURS. Make the car the way you want it! We all buy cars for different reasons, so do what works for you. As far as mods go, I fear you will need to wait, but not long. Face it, you bought a first off the showroom car, so give it some time. Check out www.steeda.com as they may have mods already or Ford Racing.

Find stuff on the web from the recent SEMA show in Vegas. You may find some retailers doing stuff for the '05 V-6.

Give it some time. Turbo and supercharger kits take time to make. Give up ford making it. Start off with dual exhaust, a racing chip for the engine, and a new electronic system. Helped mine a lot. I got an 02 pushing 270 to the rear. Not quite gt beating, but close. Good on insurance. Greddy mught have something, if not...u looking for power off the bat??? Cobras are nice........but we all don't have the money. |

Hey man, a fast v6 loaded is a fast v6. The 02 is fine with a few upgrades. U got a point though. The fastest v6 still won't run a cobra, but a one of a kind v6 is nice. Dual exhaust, racing chip, body kit, rebuilt engine....now a 4.1........cobra has a 4.2, with a little extra, how ofteb do you see a v6 mustabg pushing 290 when it is stock 190? Take pride in your ride man. You never know............no nos or chargers. Wanna run?

Steeda is nice, but....we all like to waste money right. V6 pushin 290 here...how?? Dual exhaust, racing chip, cam, new electronics, and no chargers!! Just tryin to prove a really nive v6 can run an average v8. Seein as how the stock camaro comes with 250.....runnin em to death. Upgrades friend. 3.8 v6 is nice as a 4.1 . As you know a cobra is only a 4.6. Next is a 351 Boss.......in the 02, watch out. How stupid can i get with a part a month?

what the hell are you talking about! hahhaa the 3.8 is gone becasue it's the worst engine Ford EVER MADE. there is no such thing as a new, Ford made Boss dude, Shidoda makes the onley boss, NOT FORD. Your car does not make 290 to the wheels with a chip cam and electronics. A boosted V6 can run with the big boys, NOT a bolt on. You have no clue what you are talking about. How stupid can you get?, I don;t know, lets see your next post s I can gauge it. LMAO haha |

BTW on the 05 V6 wouldn't it be one of the slowest V6's in years? I mean you are only talking 200-210 HP which is 7-17 more than the 99-04...but look how much more the 05 weighs....heard any baseline times? Also, dual exhaust would look like crap on the 05 V6 due to the rear facia...correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the rear facia have a single cut out for the 6? Or is it flat like the 99-04?

I don't think the have a single cut... (all memory which mine sucks anyway) but ya the '05 V-6's have a strange sedan kinda look.
GT boy... don't go bangin bolt on V-6's... one might just rip you a new a-hole one day . I must agree with you about gtkiller... he does seem a little off his rocker. (I bet he one-wheel peels)

One more thing... A decked out 4 banger would have a chance against a stock '04 cobra or '99 cobra-R ya. Now talk about a decked cobra and that's another story. I've watched a nos'd up WRX STi get spanked by a lightly modded cobra-R.
