power chip

so i just bought a +20HP POWER SPEED CHIP FORD MUSTANG 90-95 96-99 for my car off ebay, it was 3 dollars so i fugured it was a win win situation. however im having a hard time figuring out how to install it. MY first step was to locate the antake-air-temerature sensor, which i did. than it says disconect it, which i did. Nows when i got confused "gently pull the tab out and lift the sensor out of the housing" I really dont know what that means. than i have to locate the tiny recepticales found in the IAT wire harness, i didnt know what that ment. Than i was suposed to place one end of the resistor into one slot on the IAT wire harness.
The directions are pretty confusing so i figured u guys were the ones to talk to, let me know if you have done it before, and could explain it to me better thanks

pizzacheff31 06-05-2007 10:45 AM

seriously why, i had my hopes up so much, in what ways will it hurt it, i guess i should have never trusted that stupid fag who sold it to me, i dont think i can return it now, its to late, lucky it was only 10 bucks

you do realize that resistor you bought you could have got from an electronics store for like .99 at most. Secondly don't install it, it will just screw crap up in the end. Their is a reason a 'real' tuner for our cars cost $300+.

Throw it in the garbage. There is a reason it was 3 dollars. Your cars ECU is a good thing, dont try to fool it. :nono:

The "resistor type" chips work by reducing the voltage sent to the ECU by the IAT, or coolant temperature sensors. This tells the ECU that the air coming into the engine is cooler than it actually is (55 degrees most times), the computer adjusts the fuel curves. (how long the injector stays open, and when to open)This means more fuel is pumped into the cylinder, but this does not always mean more power. When you put more fuel into the cylinder, without more air, you will actually lose power. This is because the ECU is getting a false-reading of the temperature and density of the air. This, in-turn, makes the oxygen sensors tell the ECU there is too much fuel. This causes the computer to constantly trying to adjust to the signals, and sees that one or more of them is wrong. It then turns on the MIL or "CHECK ENGINE" light, to tell you, the driver, that there is a problem. So actually, it turns into a waste of time and in some cases may cause you to make expensive repairs.

The "real tuners" $300+ for our cars adjust many things to actually add power. When our cars are shipped from the factory they are tuned for best emmisions mostly. When you tune your car with one of these, its tuned for best power.

just to add to that gr8 analysis it can also lean your fuel and thats also bad

hahaha,
i bought one of these for my chevy malibu (back in the day, 17 years old 1st car) I was always trying to rice it out and stuff, so this was idiot ricer heaven. I bought one of these on ebay, like him, for like maybe $5. was the worst thing for my car, it musta fried something along the lines because even after removing it a week later the check engine light would not still not turn off! Very bad thing for ANY car.
