I got the GT500 replicas 18x9.5 w/255/45r18. They rub when I cut the wheel hard to turn. I have read on another site that for installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels to use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA. Will this solve my problem?

If you're turning all the way, hardest, to a point where the wheel doesn't turn anymore and you rub.. thats normal. If you're turning halfway or 3/4 of the way and you rub, thats not normal, and you've got a problem.

steering stops just limit your turn radius. its really no fix, just a band-aid. youll be fine with where its at as long as you dont drive where it rubs for hours on end.

It only rubs at almost full turn. Its rubbing on the lower control arm or a-arm (whatever there called on a mustang). I worry because it rubs on the inner sidewall and I am afraid it will damage the tire. I can manage to drive and it not rub when in tight spots.

But my wife on the other hand is not as careful as I am when turning and parking. :argue:

sounds like steering stops are in order for peace of mind...i wouldn't think it would damage the tire if it rubs every now n then...i've got 17x9 cobra wheels on mine, it rubs at full turn but i haven't had any real problems yet.

Considering its not good to run the steering at full lock for very long at all as it is, i wouldnt worry about it. Plus you might need to cut the wheel sharper sometimes to get out of tight spots.

I have decided to leave it alone. I found out that most of the noise I was hearing when it rubbed was the wheel weights rubbing on the inside. I took them off and it still rubs but very little and no sound.
