Increasing the lifetime of my V6 Mustang?

Here is the situation. I have a job that requires me to drive A LOT, it's mostly highway mileage. To give you an idea of how much I drive, between my job and just regular usage, I put over 1,000 miles a week on it, average. Here is my last and most recent oil changes:

On 12/29/06 I changed the oil, the car had 92,600 miles
Today, 1/16/07, I changed the oil again, and I have 95,680 miles.

--------

It's a 2001 V6 3.8L. Other than changing the oil every 3,000 miles and the air filter, is there anything else I can do to improve the life of the vehicle? I rely on this car for work, school and everything else, and I still owe $5700 on it. If it dies on me, it'd be a major problem.

At 74,000 miles the spark plugs, wires changed and At 85,000 the fuel filter changed. That is pretty much all I have done to maintain it, other than the obvious oil changes, air filter changes, tires & brakes.

-------

Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I can do to make it go up to like 200k miles before death?

I usually use 5W-30 for my oil changes, but a friend of mine is pushing me to buy the synthetic... would it expand the lifetime of my vehicle?
