new mustang, now whats next?
 

hey everybody this is my first post and i have some questions about what i should buy next to upgrade my mustang.

its a 1994 3.8 v6 and the engine is brand new along with the clutch, a short throw shifter, water pump, and brakes so im off to a good start i would say.

i'm looking forward to increasing the HP and overall performance the best way possible so what would be the best place to start? dual exhaust? cold air intake? etc.

in the spring and summer when i can work my butt off, i'm planning on getting a turbo charger, possibly twin turbo, supercharger, anything that gives it alot of power.

but for now i'm focused more on less expensive parts. any ideas?

go with the steeda short ram intake kit at americanmuscle.com. i put that on my 95 v6 and noticed an immediate gain in both off the line torque and power at the higher rpm range

does anyone know a good website for turbo and superchargers for a 1994 V6 3.8 mustang?

also, if i wanted to eventually buy a turbo or super charger, does the year of the mustang make much of a difference if its still a V6 3.8?

for example, if i saw online a turbo charger for a 1995 3.8 V6 mustang, would that turbo be ok to go in my 94? because i heard that 95's are not that different than 94's.

it just gets annoying to finally find a turbo charger for a 3.8 V6 and then see that the year is different than my car and i assume i cant get it.

Uhhh... yea the year of the mustang matters, iirc you can't use a 99-04 blower on a 94-98 or w/e it is..

Theres many options for that...be prepared to drop a large chunk of cash...and i'd go to a local shop to get setup on something like that...

my friend owns a 2004 dodge SRT-4 with 40,000 miles on it and its turbo charged of course.

hes looking to upgrade his car with the stage 2 turbo kit and says if he gets that, then i can buy his stock turbo for 700 bucks which i thought was a great deal cuz i kno his turbo works fine.

only problem is his engine is a 2.4L 4 cylinder car and my mustang is a 1994 3.8 V6 again so is there any possible way that his turbo could fit onto my engine even if i had it modified at a shop? i have yet to find a shop to ask, otherwise i would have done so already but just wanted a quick opinion. thanks

its probly a very small turbo i wouldnt knw though. It could work I know that the mustangs that came with the turbos on them you could put the doge Cummins 5.9L stock turbo on them. it might work.

if it were me first thing i would do is buy some tires worth speeding on, dont cheap out on them cause you get what you pay for.

its a 6 dude...he probably won't be burning the hell out of them...and if he does...hes on a peg leg till tloc anyhow... he'd be better off dropping the cash on an exhaust or something that will give him a little bump in hp before he started with buying tires ect... my little goodrich tires were on my car for over a year before my tread finally wanted to give out..

yeah but the stock goodyears are pieces of crap compared to aftermarket tires. You can spend it on an exhaust and still lose control of the car. it a v6 the suspension is sloppy. most sixers dont even need to thing about upgrading any performance parts until the suspension is modified otherwise its a waste of money. Why add more power when your not even putting doen all the power that the stock 6 puts out. plus if hes not gonna be rippin gup the tires and speeding what the hell does he have a mustang? get a corolla

Tires are the most important when it come to saftey i dont think he looking for saftey at this point like i said before gears dual exhaust tune cai easy total cost of all $1200-1500

It's a 1994... he can add power or do whatever he wants and not worry about suspension especially since he said he wants to do inexpensive parts right now. He doesn't have to worry about suspension or tires until he puts a major change to the car like a SC which he said he would do in the summer. A 1994 puts out 145HP. Dual Exhaust barely adds anything anyway so thinking that hes going to lose control with stock tires makes no sense.

GotMyStang- I would do what cheddarbob said and do some of the basic mods first like he stated. Thats the best starting point for less expensive parts.

If I am remembering correctly the stock turbo and manifold on the SRT-4s are cast together so you can remove the turbo from the manifold. I am not 100% sure but I believe that to be the case.

but how much boost would that give him 5 psi?
