Valentine One is the best
it got a 97 out of 100 the next one was a score of 75

Milos 11-25-2006 09:56 PM

I used a Cobra XRS and used to have a CB... I've since pulled both since I don't really drive it much anymore.

Mattj and everyone else is right, get a V1 from valentine or don't bother. this question has been asked a million times and its always the same answer, can someone close this thread now?

I have an Escort Passport 8500 x50 (got it super cheap with employee discount of course) and it works great. The V1 does have the arrows which is cool though. If I were paying full price for one I would probably go with a V1

eventer289 11-26-2006 04:58 PM

Escort Passport 8500 X50 is good as well. So is the BEL RX65 (8500 x50 internals but it also detects the Ku band-a band that is soon coming to america from europe.)

I have heard the V1 is TOO sensitive. I have a friend with a V1 and it is like the little boy who cried wolf.

As for laser detection, the V1, RX65, and 8500 X50 all detect it, but if it beeps that it is detecting laser, you are probably already F'ed.

the V1 alos has the new europe bands its not sensitve. it so good it detects them from 3 miles away.

MattJ 11-26-2006 05:16 PM

Yeah if you get hit with laser, you are screwed. Theres a tips and tricks section on v1s website that gives you insight to reduce chances of a ticket.

Codiddy 11-26-2006 05:24 PM

Yeah If you think the V1 is too sensitive that is user error. I know which beeps to ignore and which ones are for real. I wouldn't want a detector that was LESS sensitive, that seems counter-intuitive. And nobody else has the arrows, I live by the arrows.

Milos 11-27-2006 06:26 AM

Not even the V1 can save you from a laser, so its pretty much just the radar bands that the V1 sets the curve with.... if you got the money.

Cheddarbob 11-27-2006 07:09 AM

so for lazer just but a lazer jammer. They are legal in cali!!:boink:

Milos 11-27-2006 11:57 AM

They can tell when you're using a jammer too.

Cheddarbob 11-27-2006 03:50 PM

true but they cant prove you were speeding

Sorry, the radar detector post just peaked my interest. Make a long story short: My parents tried to sell my mustang, what's the point in going to a mustang forum if you don't have your mustang anymore. But we're working on getting that back (and I'm now living in Kentucky = no emissions)...

**err, didn't read the post.

but in Connecticut, the downfall to a radar detector is that if they see one hanging, you almost always get a ticket. Jammers are illegal in Connecticut, so if they don't get you for speed, they'll get you for the jammer. In Kentucky neither are illegal... I actually got my first ticket let-off here, 73 in a 55 with a radar detector fully visable.

Depends on the cop and I guess his mood.

Ebay...

Cheddarbob 12-05-2006 08:15 AM

dont do it on ebay. 1 they may be new but they sell for 100 bucks over the orig price.
2.V1 website has them for 399 thats not bad b/c ur getting quality abd you know its not a fake.
3.If you buy a used one most of them are the older version so that wont help you. b/c you then have to send it back to get upgrade and by that time what u paid for in your bid has gone well over the org price
4. just buy it new its not worth all the extra crap.

spike_africa 12-05-2006 09:00 AM

bullcrap you can get them cheap off ebay. Even if you get an old one for cheap its i think 100 or 150 to send it in for a update aka they take yours and you get a new one. its a good deal. Look for old ones that you can send in. Thats how my dad got his.

ok you go on ebay look at the price when it ends.
http://electronics.search.ebay.com/V...tsearchZSearch
look all the brand new ones are 400+
and you will have to wait for the other ones to end biding to see the final price. it not worth it after bid on it fro 300 get it then you have to pay shiping then you have to send it in for the better version and your well over the orig price. trust me i have been researching them on ebay for awile ive yet to find a good deal.

whitethunder46 12-05-2006 01:17 PM

Ok.. I figured you guys would know this. Just like any place/store/website, you need to research your prices.

I only buy off Ebay for NEW products.

ALWAYS go STRAIGHT to the manufacturer's website (EX: Valentine 1) and see what they charge straight from the manufacturer. In this case it's $400, and yes, they're a lot of ones on ebay for over that.
If you can get it straight from the manufacturer for the same price, or even just a couple dollars more, I always get it straight from them.

In my case, I bough a high end Rocky Mountain. On their website, it was $350, I got it brand new for $210 off ebay.

It's about research.
