5.0 swap Q's

First I am swapping a rebuilt stock 302 into an '03 mustang V6. The donor motor is a 87-00 HO roller W/ 351 firing order.

1st Q-what type of K member will I need for this swap? stock 5.0 or aftermarket?

2nd-Will i need to use 5.0 motor mounts or fab some up?

3rd- speedo will i need to go mechanical or is there an electronic unit I can use?

Motor will be picked up this weekend so i need to see what kind of cash im gonna need for the extra parts needed to make it work.

pics when its in process.

i know the first Q youre gonna ask is why the hell not a mod motor?

well the 302 is freshly rebuilt longblock for $915. At the same place they do freshly rebuilt 4.6's (96-98 SOHC #F65E-F75E Block w/ F6 Heads Car/F150) price for those are $ 2205.

that was the decision maker right there. Plus i plan on leaving the 302 stock once its in the car. Then the suspension will get my undivided attention.

well it won't be easy...

You will need...

Motor Mounts
K member
bellhousing
tranny(good idea)
rear
and suspension

Might want use the mechanical speedo

Might also want to consider going carb OR you will need to fawk with the computer and wiring harness...

ALOT of custom fabbing... ALOT of work... ALOT of money

It'd be ALOT cheaper to buy a GT... cheaper and the new GTs make more power then an 87 302 (which only made 225HP @ the crank)

The big worry is the electrical (unless you go carb)

as far as the rest... I am unaware of a Kmember or motor mounts that can be used in an application like this... so ya'll need to make em...

What computer system do you plan to use?

The speedo and tach are going to be an issue, normally they get their signals over the SCP data bus, from your PCM.

You can get a 94-95 K member and 5.0 motor mounts.

A stock 5.0 is not going to make a lot of power and is going to be a lot harder to swap in then say a PI 5.4 or 4.6.
